Dutch beer #2000: 0.33 l bottle from 'Ace Drinks', best before December 2021, cellared for over a year. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, quite roasty, slightly smoky-medicinal and minimally fruity aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, whisky, peat and iodine. Quite sweet, malty, rather roasty, gently smoky-medicinal and a little fruity taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, peat, ash, iodine and a touch of Kirschwasser, followed by a long, rather roasty-bitter, earthy fairly smoky-medicinal finish. Medium to full body, smooth, creamy to oily mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. I usually really like the Zwarte Snorre variants due to their old school RIS character with lots of roast and the intense barrel flavours. Also, they remind me of my farewell tasting in Amsterdam with markoijelena and PotjeBier almost five years ago, a good reason to choose one of them for my second Dutch milestone. This one stands out for me: it's intense, complex and well-balanced at the same time with those lovely whisky flavours in the foreground.
