Huge, just off-white head leaving lots of lace over hazed, yellow to golden beer. Bit doughy nose, very unobtrusive, finally citrus(peel) emerging, hints at coriander. Spicy, and again doughy flavour; thankfully more peppery than coriander; white candi sugar, but not dominating the maltcharacter. A vegetable hopbitterness in the finish. Feels more carbonated than it looks, spritzy. Medium bodied all the same. Balance seems quite OK. But once more, a beer from 13 to the dozen. What makes it so difficult to make one that bowls one over?

Huge beige head, very stable (iron?) over deep chestnut-brown beer. Rich roasted nose, dark malts galore, hops wafting up, brown candi sugar. Taste... brown candi sugar rather than malts, liquorice aplenty, and a rather thinnish, metallic-bitterish finish. Bit of undergrowth, leafy, retronasal, and some chocolate once warming. Very creamy texture, but thin body, certainly for its ABV. Sugarattenuation? Oh come on, can do better!

Clear, mahoney brown body. Lightly brown head. Warming aroma of roasted malts, wine. Heavily bitter, moderately sweet flavour. Unusual flavour but not at all in a bad way. Nice beer, but not very complex.

Clear, blond body. White frothy head. Yeasty, citric aroma. Lightly bitter, lightly sweet flavour: bit alcoholic. Not very complex, quite ok balanced. Not very pronounced.

Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2011. Pours foggy, red-brown with a small, off-white head. Messy malt aroma, hints of caramel. Sweet malts dominate the flavor, slight caramel and fruit notes. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Mild warm finish, subtle toffee and caramel, ripe fruits, hints of metal. Not bad.
