750mL bottled 8/29/21, drunk 4/17/22. Clear, brassy-gold. Small, white head sits at cover briefly. Less stark/austere than the purple version, with a hint of juicy hop and more round fruitiness from the yeast. Lactic character seems softer/better developed. Lightly hoppy, gaining a bit of sweet maltiness, with pleasant lactic tartness and mild citrus bitterness from hop. Biscuit and cracker malt texture. Still pushing the overly dry and sour aspect (too much citrus rind character), but it's much more welcoming than the purple version.

750mL bottled 8/29/21, drunk 4/9/22. Good clarity in this pale, white-golden beer. White head is large, fully falling steadily. Austere hops and strong lactic acidity in the nose are both front and center, with malt coming in a bit sparsely in the form of hard cracker. Touch of citrus on the finish with mostly lemon and white grapefruit. Clean and no alcohol or flaw. Gaining a bit of oakiness with warming. In the mouth it's moderately soft in the texture but extremely, extremely dry, exacerbated by the acid from the hops and big bursts of lactic character. Not quite the roundness and depth, or age/lagering-induced mildness of my favorite sours. Pretty puninshingly bitter, acidic and cracker-forward.

Brewery draught, 4/7/22. Moderately hazy, copper-maize-golden with a small, white head showing low retention. Big fruity yeast notes with juicy citrus, light pine and plentiful, sumptuous malts adding honey and devil's food cake. Very creamy though there's no lactose. No flaw, twang or alcohol noted. Soft, super creamy texture with what the brewery describes as a strawberry nesquick texture/flavor combo. No lactose which is shocking, but rather a much higher Calcium addition to the water achieved this. Mega fruity, easygoing, low bitterness. Not my personal favorite flavor profile (strawberries and cream) but have to respect the absolute stunning quality of brewing again.

Brewery draught, 4/7/22. Modestly hazy, lemon-golden with a large, well-retained, white head. Juicy as all hell with no sign of the often preponderance of pine brought upon by both of these hops. Mostly just white wine, light passion fruit and a spicier, softer pine all backed by ample malts that balance with light honey and biscuit notes. No twang, booze or weird yeast character. Juicy, soft, malty, well-attenuated, dry, clean and with tons of hop flavor without any twangy resin or huge, punchy bitterness. Tropical fruits, gentle, spicy pine and flavorful citrus give an explosively flavorful, hop-driven IPA.

Brewery draught, 4/7/22. Gently hazy, pale brass-bronze with a small, but fairly-well-retained, white head atop. Juicy and tropical with funky white wine, boatloads of mineral and maybe even a trace of sulfur. Soft and succulent malts add gentle honey. No twang whatsoever - just nectarine, starfruit, mango and white wine for days. Soft, perfectly attenuated allowing the palate to be comforted but then drying out nicely with tons of tropical fruit, white wine and heavy mineral. Honey and light cracker with soft citrus and fruity yeast lingering alongside a perfect amount of bitterness. No flaw, booze or twang. Is Freak Folk the best brewery in New England? They sure put Hill Farmstead to shame (stopped there right before going to FFB). Their beers are all jaw droppingly aromatic, clean and flawlessly executed.

Draught at the brewery, 4/7/22. Clear, dark, ashen-mahogany with a small, neat, dark beige head showing modest retention. Nose is softly, but very enjoyable smokey, though it's the more easygoing smoked malt, not the bacon and/or iodine variety. Chocolate, raisin, prune and soft vanilla with mild roast and no booze or flaw. Soft, richly malty and delightfully smokey with just enough sweetness to comfort the palate without getting too sweet. Lots of prune and raisin as there should be, with smokey dryness and a touch of drying alcohol on the finish.

Brewery draught, 4/7/22. Very gentle amount of haze in this lemony-pale-gold beer. Huge, well-retained, creamy, white head. All the good stuff: honey, mineral, white grape, pepper, herbs. Soft and well-lagered. Malts are substantial but seemingly dry. No alcohol or flaw. Clean and bright. Oh yeah, rich and malty and nicely dry. Soft mineral and light white grape with soft honey. Creamy almost. Clean and bright. This is fucking incredible.

Draught at brewery, 4/7/22. A pale, straw-golden beer with a small, white head that clings to the edges. Good clarity. Wow that's something. Heavy minerality and a light Dupont-esque character of honey-pepper. Very clean and bright and highly aromatic with low, but apparent, lemony, lactic acidity. Soft, sumptuous malts are highly supportive but also seem well-attenuated. Lemon and star fruit, quite tart and clean with soft, wheat-like malts and a great attenuation. Tons of flavor and a big burst of fruity acidity that gently decrescendos into a mineral-laden, strongly-lactic finish. Much more acidic than the nose suggests, but not problematically so.

Bottle thanks to Michael. Pours a hazy yellow with small off white head that lasts. The aroma is strong funk, citrus, oak, mineral. Slick body, lemon zest, oak, funk, nice tartness, very good.
