Description
Mission Brewery was originally established in 1913, but like most breweries of the time, it went out of business during the first year of Prohibition. In 2007, Dan Selis, an avid homebrewer, re-established the brand and has built it into one of the top craft breweries in San Diego County.

Bomber from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours a slightly hazy yellow/gold with a small white head. Aromas of yeast and citrus. Medium body with sharpish carbonation. Flavors are clove, yeast, arguably citrus, revealing banana. Somehow it seems a bit gummy to me. Not bad, but not really tasty.

Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours a clear amber with a decent off-white head. Aromas of honey, malt and a little hop. Medium body with sharpish carbonation that turns creamy. Flavor is caramel, nutty and some bitter. Seems fairly balanced. Rather crisp, apparently with grassy hop.

On tap. Clear amber golden - not your typical Maibock colour - with a small off-white head. Very malty aroma and a little caramel. Medium body, very sweet malts and a little caramel. Hardly any bitterness. Atypical but pleasant Maibock. 080709

Bottle. Pours with a very pale and very clear body with a large, frothy white head. Aroma of corn, bread, noble hops and straw. Taste is noble hops, sweet bread and grain. Very light body, lively carbonation and dry. Easy to drink, great lawnmower/baby pool beer. The only better Kolsch that I have had is the one that I just brewed...

Courtesy of Gillard. It pours clear copper with gold edges and thin off white head. The aroma is sweet with malts mixing with floral hops and some grapefruit hop flavors with a light bitter singe. The taste is full yummy goodness with rich grapefruit flavor followed by bitterness as well as floral hops and a solid backbone of maltiness. Very tasty refreshing brew. I can drink this all the time.

Bomber from Country Club Liquors. Hazy yellow with a medium pale yellow head. Nose is banana, cloves, and a light bubblegum note. Flavor is banana, wheaty grain, and slight sweetness. Decent hefe but could be much bigger to be a great hefe.

Bomber from Ledger’s. Pours amber with a big, bubbly off-white head. Aroma is floral and resin; body is medium and carbonation is frothy/creamy. Flavor is malt, pretty well balanced with floral, fruit and resin hop. It’s a very tasty brew. Rather mouthsmacking. Finishes not quite dry, but that’s not bad. In fact it seems very, very good.
