Snifter @ the brewpub. Very pale golden color. A lightly straw flavor mixed with a lightly doughy Belgian yeast. Simple as that, its light and easy drinking. The Belgian yeast is apparent but not overtaking the beer, which is very light in character. Very much in the style of an Abbey SIngle, I wish more people could pull of a good light Belgian Ale.

More like an IPA with some rye for added depth - hazy golden beer - spicy, woody, resinous hop aroma and flavor (go figure) - semi-dry, with touches of rye flavor that compliment the pithy, earthy hops - chewy but not overly sweet - hop bitterness becomes a tiny bit abrasive in the finish, but otherwise pretty tasty.

Nitro at Vine Street - these guys usually nail stouts, but this one is a big let down - huge bitterness and burnt char roast are not balanced out at all, leaving an ashy flavor on the tongue - some slickness and body from the oats - tastes like very old coffee - meh.

Nitro and Vine Street - hazy orange pour - a pretty out of balance pale here - a bit of honey and indistinct malt sweetness - kind of brash, harsh malt profile - some tangy citrus and tropical fruit through the middle - fairly strong acidity - astringent hop character, especially in the finish - what i retro about it is that it hearkens back to the early days of craft beer, when you could make a sub par pale ale and people would still think it was awesome.

Tap at Vine Street - another solid stout from this brewer - hefty, creamy, chewy - loads of bittersweet chocolate and bitter espresso, augmented nicely by moderate earthy hops bitterness and notes of soil - finishes with cocoa and some mild astringency, but otherwise this is a solid brew.

Tap at Vine Street - a pretty good american-style wit - semi-dry, with a healthy dose of wheat and other grainy character - quite a bit of lemon and other ctirusy tang, bordering on a sourness - creamy in the mouth despite lively carbonation - unusual hop bitterness for the style, but it doesnβt distract from the refreshing, light character of the beer - pretty good.

Flecks of red and chestnut on an otherwise black beer. Nut and cinnamon aromas. Well-rounded mouthfeel with great sweet malt.

Tap at Southern Sun - a lovely belgian-inspired IIPA - it is hard to detect the belgian influence in the nose, but there is lovely, semi-sweet notes of orange and citrus preserves, with a bracing, earthy hop bitterness to temper it - despite the sweet nose, the flavor is rather dry, and the hops create less of a citrus character than they do a mellow white grape flavor - the belgian yeast adds subtle phenols that work with the bitterness of the hops, and add a kind of toastiness - the hops become herbal and almost minty in the finish - a faint touch of fusel alcohol in the finish as it warms is the only minor flaw - quite nice.

Tap at Vine Street - "Cβest Tout Belgian Ale" - burnt orange/copper pour - spicy nose, with light, crisp maltiness, some burnt sugars - flavor is very dry, crisp, spicy, hoppy - the lightest touch of yeast phenols and a bit of tangy, wheaty character on the tail end - a bit of sweetness develops as it warms, but this is mostly dry, peppery, and tasty - the spice profile also gets stronger as it warms, revealing a bit more complexity - not entirely "saison-like," but I likey.

Tap at Vine Street - these folks have a way with pales and ipas - great pour - cloudy bronze, huge, fluffy head that leaves behind rings of foam as you drink - nice, earthy hop profile - strong, too - more like an ipa - very full, creamy body - a bit of malt sweetness, but mostly dry and bitter - a bit earthy, almost nutty - a great session ale.
