12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Pours a hazy orange-amber color with a medium sized frothy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of big grassy hops, pale malts, a little bready and some corn. The taste is grassy hops, grapefruit and other citrus, bready malts. Medium bodied. A little on the strange side but not bad.

Pizzeria Paradiso, Alexandria tap ($6): Pours a black with a beige head. Aroma is pretzels, minerals, roasted malts, and chocolate. Taste is pretty much chocolate-covered pretzels dipped in brine. Very good body and very good balance. I really dug this brew.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Norm's, 5/14/12
Aroma: The nose of this beer has caramel malts, bread/yeast, and nuts
Appearance: Pours a dark reddish-brown color with a small beige head
Flavor: The taste is heavy malty, but not really all that sweet, the bitterness is pretty faint
Palate: The body is light-medium, and a touch watery, but mostly creamy on the mouth
Overall Impression: This is a solid - malt forward (and backward) - beer. It works fine, and drinks fine, but there isn't anything special about it. To sum it up: I got no complaints, but there is not much memorable about this one either.

Draft at BrewJam Gloucester VA: Roasted barley malt with a soapy rose petal accents and subtle coffee and charred oak notes, slightly briney. Blacky, thin brown head. Charred oak, astringent. Mainly dry. Slight briney finish, but appropriate for the style. Straightforward and tastefully done.

Minimum off-white head over metallic orange-golden beer. Oxydized, nutty, off-aromas. Oxydation, acrid bitterness, nutty and walnutpeelextract. Astringency, dead beer. Ouch.

Aroma is unmalted barley, bran flakes, and cardboard, moderate strength. Tea colored, thin yellow head despite an aggressive pour. No hops, but more grainy than malty. I must admit, I like a beer like this every now and then, but it’s more of a beginner beer.
