Bottle at Bodega in La Crosse. The beer is an amber-brown color with a medium foamy beige head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing. Aroma of toasted malt and caramel. Medium body with flavors of caramel malt, fruit and a hint of coffee. The finish is short and malty. Straightforward example of the style all around.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Bottle in Vilnius. Not much to say here - full bodied lager. Refreshing. Okay!

Biggish yellowish beige head. Deep amber body with carbonation. Raisiny honey aroma with nutty rye notes. Dry-sweetish gingery raisiny honey taste with bready yeasty notes. Mid-bodied. Faintly oily mealy mouthfeel. Dry bready yeasty raisiny aftertaste with mealy lemon notes. Excellent! Perhaps the best kvass I’ve tried. (0.5l bottle, Maxima, Vilnius.)

500ml bottle from a corner shop in Ashford. OK it wasn’t a shop on a corner, but you know what I mean. Clear pale gold, no head. Not a great aroma, some lemon, not great flavour in mouth either, Some cardboard. Wow this is truly rubbish. Some boiled cabbage. I mean you must try hard to make something this horrible. And I like lager on the whole. But this is not very good. So much cardboard and bad rotting lemons. Ooops.
