Pours solid black with a towering light-brown head.Nose shows lots of dark and milk chocolate with some caramel chucked in there as well.Flavours are not as complex or interesting, but still show loads of roasted malt with faint hints of chocolate. Unfortunately there’s an off-putting tangy taste in there, like green apples.Too highly carbonated for a porter.

Pours orange/amber with a large fading head.Aroma shows loads more fruity confectionery, with passionfruit, pineapple, lemon and lime lollys all represented. Alongside this is a pungent grassy note, presumably from late/dry-hopping. Some faint caramel is also present, but I think this could really benefit from more malt. Some of those fruity aromas transfer through as flavours, but the malt dominates in this department (contradictory to what I just mentioned above??), with caramel, toffee and bready notes before a solid, but somewhat boring and dull bitterness follows.Carbonation is light, body is moderate... pretty good!

Bottle - mine says 4.8% ABV. Murky copper, small light beige head. Nose has a little caramel backing up clear, focused passionfruit and grapefruit hops. Body is medium. Tropical fruit sweetness is there but well integrated. Bitterness is firm but not biting. Finish is bitter and a little short.

Bottle marked "Robust Porter". Pours black with an inch of tan head. Nose has roasted malt, vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Tastes fairly sweet and chocolatey. Thinnish body. Somewhat salty finish with a little bitterness. Sound enough, but a bit dull.

Amber colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is nutty and chocolaty with some mild spicyness. Flavour is chocolate, coffee, fruits and some mild notes of wood. Pleasant, but not that Biere de Gardeish...

Pours amber with a small head.Aroma shows some floral and spicy hops, but not much else except something vaguely salty and almost sour, geueze style.Flavours share those sour notes, with some caramel in the background. Lemony sourness is off-putting.Quite watery.

Bottle at the Chriso Gaylord tasting 09. Deep chestnut colour, lasting beige head. Slight haze. Toffeeish, not much of a biere de garde compared with the stuff I get in France. Sweet toffeeish beer. Nice enough, but a bit out of style.
