Associated Venue: Sullivan's Taproom
Established in 2016
The Smithwick Family in partnership with direct descendants of the Sullivan Family had a vision to re-open the once-great brewery in the city where it all began. They enlisted the help of Ian Hamilton, one of Ireland’s most eminent contemporary master-brewers. Together they are bringing artisan brewing back to Kilkenny. If people thought that brewing in Kilkenny was dead and buried, they are in for a rude awakening…
Brewed at Dundalk Bay. Some small batch beers brewed in the taproom.

Sample from keg at Captain Cooks, Östersund. Surprised to see this in top 50. It did have a lovely nutty and roasted aroma. Good black colour...but the ending was far too grippy.

Pop the nitro top with a big hiss and then pours out a dark black with a large foamy tan head. Aroma is a decent char with an equally nice bitter bakers chocolate. Flavor is thin nitro body but this has an intense roasted and char malt. Almost smoky with the charred malt. This was a well made stout and way more flavorful than Guinness.

Can from Total Wine in Vacaville, CA. Pours amber tinged gold with a nice foamy white head. Aroma of slightly roasty caramel with citrus/floral hop. Med body or nearly. Flavor is pretty much the aroma. Caramel gets a bit pushy tho. Very lightly bitter.

Can from Total Wine in Vacaville, CA. Pours ruddy tinged, clear dark brown with a decent tan head. Aroma is caramel/roasty/malty with a light touch of Tmavy. Med body for sure. Not dry, but not very sweet. Not very bitter. Hints of dark fruit. Very good flavor.
