Sour ale with lime, hibiscus and blood orange brewed by Grassroots at Hill Farmstead and tasted at Nanobrasserie de l'Ermitage at their Quintessence side event. Tightly membranous lacing, egg-white, regular, moussy head on top of a hazy pale orangey tinged straw blonde beer. Aroma of pickled cauliflower, sourdough, fresh gherkins, barnyard, green apple, lime flesh, little hibiscus, some background DMS. Crisp, lime-like sourness in the onset, sharp and bit numbing, minerally carbonation, soapy and lightly doughy basis, slick but dried by the sourness, lime returning retronasally more than blood orange while the hibiscus goes all but lost, straightforward acidity (raw rhubarb-like) lingering, faint dusty aspect. Not perfectly successful: I didn't get a lot of blood orange and close to no hibiscus, while the DMS bothered me a bit. Pure flavour-wise a decent modern sour, though.

Pours unclear blonde, good white head with very good stability. Smell is subtile and complex. Dry, hay, mild tartness in the background. Bit funky. Taste is tart, hay, tad 'sweet' fruityness ( oranges style ) very well made, yet not what I crave for in a saison.

Tap. Hazy orange color with white head. Aroma is fresh yeast, blood orange, zezty. Taste is dough, fresh yeast, blood orange, orange peel. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Very good, very refreshing!

01-05-18 // tap at moeder Lambic Fontainas. Hazy golden. Small head. Floral wild nose. Bitter orange, flowers, lime on a funky grainy bed. Good juicy refreshing. Love it!

Tap at Moeder Fontainas. Hazy golden with white head. Hay, sour grain, lemon, cow parsley, rhubarb, floral touches, white grapes, apricot, unripe peachy touches. Light sweet, moderate sour and bitter. Medium body and soft carbonation. Very juicy and tasty.

Nice fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head, hazy orangy color. Aroma is slightly dry sour-ish, soda powder, lime peel, sorrel, oak, brett, citrus, minerals, grass, hay. Taste is dry sour-ish fruity, soda powder, lime, sorrel, unripe berries, citrus peel, oak, brett, minerals, grass, citrus acid, blood orange. Medium bitterness, dry sour-ish fruity mouthfeel. Nice one.

Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly fresh funky, mild brett, citrus peel, hay, grass, soda powder, sorrel, lemon, weeds, flowers, hints of skunk far back. Taste is fresh sour-ish, grass, lemon, citrus peel, soda powder, sorrel, hay, weeds, grapefruit, flowers, oak. Medium bitterness, dry acidic mouthfeel. Nice one!
