19th July 2021; Shrewsbury Beer Share in Chez Sophie, five of us splitting 16 different beers, t'was a good night! Thanks Simon for this monster brew, 330ml bottle of lushness. Black bodied, off-white/beige top. Coconut front to the nose, calms down a bit in the taste, but it's there attacking the malty goodness and alcohol in this creamy and far to easy to drink Imp Stout; is it really 17% ABV?

330ml bottle @ Free-Dumb tasting, Chez Sophie, July 21. Lashings of cakey desert-like coconut and chocolate coming through on the nose, sweet oily palate. Decadent, creamy, unctious almost, but drinks exceptionally well for 17%, feeling around half its strength. A real pleasure to sip.

21st June 2021: Monthly Beer Share, Chez Sophie in Shrewsbury. Only four of us this time around. Cheers Simon for the 330ml bottle of this 'strange brew'. Lovely lady on the front label! Anyway it poured a mean black colour with an off-white/cream head. Dark fruits and some heat in the taste, aroma more herbal and piney than fruity. Split the room taste and likeability wise.

330ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, June 21. Thanks Simon for this. Pours black, hazed with a light beige head. Spiced nose, some pine and dark malt. Seems to present an interesting piney gingery hop bite to start, with a dusty Irish dry Stout roastiness on the finish. As it breathes more of the hop pine seems to emerge, finishing more in line with a strong black IPA feel, though remaining intensely complex and smokey with rich liquorice nestled beneath. Blurring styles and then some.

Bottle ordered from A Hoppy Place, Windsor. Aroma is roasty, smokey, coffee. Then develops a dried fruit sweetness. Dark and glossy (I need something else to say, other than dark and glossy/inky). Creamy tan head is blotchy. That is ducking lovely... tangy molasses dosed coffee. Hmm... Turkish coffee? Sour edge, not overpowering. Warming finish but not too obvious. Heavy bodied. Oily. Average-soft-fizzy-fluttery carbonation. Yes. Yes. Phew.
