Aromas of lemon, apple, toffee, bread and pine. The malt is kind of missing when tasted, leaving it a little unbalanced.

A full-bodied brown ale with a lingering, tan head and a perfect colour. It's got a big hazelnut aroma, with some modest citrus and a bit of chocolate. There's a nice balance of citrus and nutty malt in the mouth. Very enjoyable.

Can. Almost clear gold with a white head. Aroma is spicy and floral with hints of lemon, light bread behind. Has that richness (and slight slickness) that can work so well as a platform before spicy and quite firm bitterness at the end. Drinks itself. Doesn't need to be original: it's fresh and (fairly) local.

A freebie thanks to The Otter's Promise. Pretty much clear amber with a dense inch of near white head that lasts pretty well. Aroma of bread, spices, a little toffee, hints of pine. Malty but dryish for the style (which is good) with quite punchy spices and firm bitterness. Good in a style I mostly loathe - but although it's by being stronger, drier and hoppier, it neatly avoids the problems of the hoppy amber by understanding that the hops are seasoning not vying for top billing. Highly promising.
