This pours black as expected with a dark mocha head. The aroma is nice and deep, cocoa, coffee and dark roasted malt. Thick yet smooth palate delivers a well rounded dark roast flavor package. Good dryness at the finish. A good beer has been made even better.

Clear golden color and somewhat bubbly with a thin white head and very little lacing. Aroma of wheat and clove. Light-bodied and crisp with a decent balance of wheat, banana and hops flavor. The finish is refreshing and mildly hoppy with a pinch of citrus. Straightforward and enjoyable.

2005 bottle at Mondial, 6/5/05. I must have got a decent pour, as mine turned out quite pleasant. Hazy orange-golden, very fine bubbles and a small, off-white head not long retained, with light lacing. Aroma of lightly sugary, doughy malt, bits of sweet orange, apricots and pepper. Not terribly heavy on the esters, be it banana, clove or bubblegum. Though there is a touch of banana evident, it is mostly the soft, creamy sweet malt, and lightly floral hops that give aroma. Flavor is light citrus, hints of soft bubblegum, light doughy malt and a zesty spiciness from the hops. Ends with some peppery, perhaps clove-like spice, quite crisp and refreshing. It dosent end watery and thick like some recent examples I have had. I think crispness is important in a summer beer. Moderate carbonation is natural and unobtrusive, while the body is a solid medium, with no wateriness. Low yeast apparency and only marginal wheat flavors, no sourness really. Still, I enjoyed the malt and soft hops.

[re-rate - bottled version - not very maibock-like, but quite a nic espring beer - nice grainy malt, honey character, tempered well with a strong, but not over powering hop profile - pretty decent] [draught] straw colored with a slight tint of copper - fruity, light aroma - floral with background fruitiness - lots of hops for the style, especially in the finish - that wouldn’t be bad if they combined well with the sweeter flavors, but in this case they don’t - they stand in brutal opposition to one another, leaving the palate confused.

Bottled. Hazy orange big white creamy head, lacing. Fruity nose. Fruity, hoppy and alcohol in flavour. Hoppy fruit in aftertaste. The IPA works, and the alcohol suits the flavour completeness pretty well.

Light amber, quite impressive lacing - highly sweet aroma, but with abundant hops as well - the flavor is really sweet as well (quite barleywine-like) - quite similar to 90 minute - well-balanced, but not stand out.

2005 bottle. Clear rusty-orange body, moderate white head, some retention and good lacing. Aroma of oranges, marmalade (more oranges), basic pale malt, some biscuits and a touch of light caramel. Flavor begins with floral, mildly resinous, bitter hops and a dry biscuity flavor. More orange-marmalade on the finish, a medium to medium-light body, yet not watery. Aerated, lightly fluffy mouthfeel with a bit of lightly chewy, dry caramel and pale malt on the end. Very basic, yet well-executed in all aspects. A flagship session beer of which to be proud.

Bottled. Hazy amber, small head. Peach aroma. Sweet and very malty with shampoo-like fruitiness and bitterness. Extremely hoppy - like concentrated hop juice wiyh thick,oily mouthfeel. The finish is salty with huge bitterness. The beer is all about hop flavour. Alcohol and sweetness are ramped up in an attempt to balance it out, which is quite succesful. I still feel that I’m getting a bit tired of the American trend to throw in all the hops possible and then try to balance it, rather then starting from the other end - the idea to make a good beer and use as much hops as that requires.
