Draught Pint at Redbones on 11/17/05 with OldGrowth. On the border between transparent and transluscent, this amber to cherry-red and beige colored beer invites a beige colored head to dinner and the two chat in to the evening (alternatively, the head is well-retained). Spotty lacing evident on the glass. Very respectable appearance for a pressurized, low gravity draught. Aroma has a touch of earth to it, lightly musty notes arise as well, and then a hint of cherries, dry peaches and finally soft caramel. Only a smattering of orange-peel-like citrus notes are apparent at first, but after warming, evolve to a more broad orange and light grapefruit variety. Flavor combines medium-dry caramel with light oranges and a touch of minimally sour, munich-like grains. Supportive malting mixed with low carbonation produces a lightly creamy texture. Strong dryness on the finish suggestive of dusty yeast, dry grains and light hop bitterness. Fresh, and with more yeast character than your average American ESB. Lightly sweet toffee lingers on the aftertaste.

Bottle Pours a slightly hazy orange amber with a small quickly dissipating off white head and thick clinging lacing. Aroma is light pumpkin spice and some vanila and cinnamon. Flavor was sour vinnegary. Feel was thin but smoth and had a fairly high carbonation. The spices come through again on the trailer. Overall the pumpkin is subtle. I’ll never get used to these I guess. 6/30/10. Has this on tap at Brewforia and it was a great, lightly spiced pumpkin delight. If I hadn’t known it was a pumpkin ale I might have been hard presed to nail that. Adding a few more points as I reconsider.

22oz bottle opened by the ever acquiescent Eyedrinkale with Egajdzis and myself on 8/27/2005. Somewhat darker for a saison, a caramelly-amber-copper body, collapsing white head reduces to a film of covering with no lacing. Aroma gives notes of old brown bread dipped in dry, old caramel, with a big dose of black pepper and sour vegetables. Flavor. Wow, what the hell happened here?? Putrid, rancid, bready-astringent and EXTREMELY overspiced. It’s like a bunch of old vegetables, cabbage, carrots, celery, with some dry caramel, a cup of pepper and then some rotting oranges. Or something like that. Really hard to tell because I couldnt take more than a sip or two. Eek. Kind of like a caramel malted sahti gone bad.

Bottle Pours a hazy light orange/amber with a modest off white head. Coarse blocky lacing. Aroma is certianly flowery and sweet like honey. Jasmine I suppose, had I smelled Jasmine before I would know. Sweet honeysuckle is how I would describe the aroma. Remakably littel hops in the aroma. I dont notice the perfumy flavors lke my wife or beer sharing partner pinkzambia but it is there. More like a heavy lager to me. Hops are ci\onspicuously absent in the flavor as well. Particularly for the style. Low carbonation and smooth soft palate.

Bottle Pours a thick inky black and generates a nice fluffy light brown head. Aromsa are a nice mix of sweet roasted notes and dark fruit. Purple grapes, prunes and molassas. Flavor is much more of the bitter charcoal taste. Plenty of sharp bitterness at the end. A moderately heavy feel and a bit of an unfiltered sediment feel as well. Was hoping for more "sweetness" in this sweet stout, but not dissapointing at all.

Golden-amber colour with a finger of foam. Earthy aroma (really surprised this is Simcoe and Amarillo - maybe they changed it this year?) speaks of English hops with a hint of diacetyl. Woody, earthy bitterness balanced by toasty & pale malts. Flavour is clean. Nicely done.

[At GABF 2004] A hazy yellow beer with a small white head. The aroma is sweet flowery combined with notes of yeast. The flavor is primarily yeasty combined with a slight note of alcohol.

[At GABF 2004] A hazy brown beer with a small disappearing off-white head. The aroma contains notes of honey and rosehips - not suiting for the style - rather a mead - but still OK. The flavor is slightly roasted, which gives it a dry end, but the body is thin. Just not enough of the good stuff.

Light bronze colour. Apple, apricot and alcohol aroma. How’s that for alliteration? Flavour is two-dimensional with firm alcohol notes and very sweet, caramelly malts. Cloying finish. Lacks the yeast and hop to be balanced (or a tripel, for that matter).
