500ml bottle at Kent BF 2006. 2000th beer. My 1000th beer was Ayinger Celebrator (thanks maeib) so I guessed that I should have another German to do my 2000th. This is a black beer with ruby edges and a lasting beige head. Some dark toffee, bit thin in mouth, powdery charcoal on end. Interesting beer. Good charcoal on the finish. It was about the best beer I could find towards the end of the Kent Beer Festival in order to celebrate with. Cheers to SilkTork too for being there.

Dark black/brown with light brown foamy bubbles for head. Sweet pils with a hint of cola scent. Dark coffee rich flavor with soda carbonation.

Bottle. Dark brown beer with a cocoa colored head. Sweet caramel aroma with light roast. Chocolate, caramel malts with some backing fruity/grassy hops. Refreshing and easy to drink.

Bottle. Almost black with a slight red/brownish tint. Head settles to a thin layer. Aroma of (roasted) malt. Taste of malt and caramel. Rather sweet and the sweetness remains for the aftertaste. Some bitterness, but it is almost overshadowed by the other components. Somewhat full body, but not quite it. Due to color and name, I expected a heavier beer, but it is rather noble and well balanced, and not out of style.

Near black beer, but with a burgundy shine; huge, collapsing but persistent greige head. Bready, nutty (hazel-), ink, generally sweet nose; fruity too, like sweet black grapes and strawberries. Dry, very dry malty taste, verging on cardboard. Green leaves and dark malts, potato peel aroma retronasal. Refreshing, despite the dryness. Neither full bodied, neither empty. Light, but not watery MF. Persistent head remains creamy even when swallowing. Still good. Made a classic out of an unloved style that definitely deserves better notes. Big thanks to marcusm

Bottle. Looks like cola, except the head is more stable. Smells and tastes like a bad, citric cola except for a little bitterness in the aftertaste.

Medium beige head over dark red body that is almost opaque black. Faintly sweetish roasty aroma. Deep sweetish taste with some roastiness and burntness with toffee and hop notes. Kind of like unsweetened licorice. Dry, faintly roasty aftertaste. A nice, uncomplicated, easily drinkable schwarzbier. Could be more exciting.

Bottled. Dark ruby red colour, small beige head. Malty aroma with burnt hints. Burnt malt with hints of hops and hay in flavour. Quite dry overall, but very wellbalanced Schwarzbier.
