Almost "schwarz" coloured; medium sized off-white head; quickly diminishing; shy, light malty nose: traces of molasses, roasted malts and caramel; light, more dry than sweetish beginning, light chocolatey-bitter taste; not very strong bitter-sweet finish; quite light bodied, a bit bland, unbalanced with some metallic notes in the aftertaste.....Drinkable, but no highlight !

Good head, sour taste, average finish a bit metallic, I couldnt sence the liquerice that my drinkingmates could. Not a beer for my taste.

(Bottle 33 cl) Apparently there’s no limit as to what the German breweries will mix in order to win some lost market-shares back from the young segment. This is the first time I experience scwarzbier used as the base. And here it’s mixed with cola an guarana. But it tastes okay, a birt like Danish "hvidtøl", perhaps. The cola absorbs most of the bitterness. 161003

(Bottle 50 cl) "The black in the blonde soul" the back-label claims. Perhaps a quote by Goethe who supposedly was a great lover of this beer. Pitch black it is with a full, dense light-brown head. Nice body with full throttle on the hops. Very dry and immensely pretty. 291099

A red-brown beer with no head. The aroma is sweet and plainly of cola. The flavor is sweet only with notes of cola. The mouthfeel is sticky and the body thin.

Bottle. Complex aroma - molasses, chocolate, coffee, pepper. Dark brown opaque color. Flavor primarily coffee malt but with a dark chocolate finish. Moderate body but a bit watery. Overall very nice.

Bottled. Had a nice dark malty look and taste. But the mouthfeel was a little watery, so it couldn’t hold its own in our tasting of many Oktos. Noted more melanoidins than in other beers. Light mouthfeel meant its taste overall was lighter. Also had a hard water profile you don;t find in Bavarian Oktos, which allowed the hops to taste a little spicier.

Black with a huge foamy tan head that lingered. Toasty malt, wood and cola followed by light fruity and floral hops. Long finish. Medium body.

Bottle. Light malty aroma. Black with white head. Nice roasted flavour. Hint of toffee. Liquorice aftertaste. Not excactly watery, but not very powerful either.
