Black with a huge foamy tan head that lingered. Toasty malt, wood and cola followed by light fruity and floral hops. Long finish. Medium body.

Bottle. Light malty aroma. Black with white head. Nice roasted flavour. Hint of toffee. Liquorice aftertaste. Not excactly watery, but not very powerful either.

Draft. Hmm... a good black bread taste. Brown body, spicy nose. Nicely roasted body, and a slightly smoky taste to boot. Haven’t had enough schwartzbiers yet to be sure of my rankings, so far they don’t totally grab me.

Can - Pourred a black brew with a nice foamy head with good retention. Sweet beginning with roastiness and dry finish. I found some similarities with some english stout. Overall, a very decent brew from a style that is more or less known in North America. Will be looking for other product from this brewery

First pour brought scents of coffee nice tan colour to head although it didn't last for long. The initial taste brought a nice roasted flavour with more hints of coffee and caramel. Very good, hope to have again soon!

Nice moka head to start with, but collapses fast. Faint chocolate smell, with some malt. Chocolat and malt in mouth, with smooth bitterness in pst taste...tin taste due to can...a good deal for the price...preferered the bottle version!

Crystal clear orange/dark golden colour with a decent dense off-white head. Smells of sweetness, fennel (anise), grapes and malt are all evident in the aroma. Medium-bodied; Strong sweetness up front with a subtle spicey character hanging around. Aftertaste shows more of the malt character and a bit of the spiceyness. After the beer warms up for a bit, a slight appley and peach sweetness comes out of the beer and is very nice. Overall, this is a bit better than average for the style, and should be had by people if available! I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York.

Dark, rich color but not to heavy on the tounge. Very smoky,woody, chocolate flavor. Very different for those looking for a different style to sample. The little market up the street from me sells this in a mini keg for $14.

Slight beige head on very dark brown body - somewhat roasty aroma that is the first thing present in the flavor as well - malty, but not overly sweet like some schwarzbiers - tiny bit of bitterness in the finish strikes a contrast with the initial flavor - subtle but enjoyable.

Bottle. Awesome dark brown to black color. Lots of nice bright white head. Decent malt aroma, with some rooty/licorice notes. Opens up fairly flat, which is nice, was worried it would be too carbonated. Had a warm and smooth texture with a little bit of chewy malt throughout. Had a strong black licorice flavor mixed with some mildly sweet malt. No alcohol presence. I suppose it could have a bit more hearty malt and hops, but it keeps with the style very well. Body is medium and the flavor gets a bit dull after a while, with no deep complexities, but did not get watery.
