Description
Shock Top is a traditional Belgian-Style wheat ale. It was originally created in 2006 as a seasonal brew under the name Spring Heat Spiced Wheat. After collecting gold in ’06 and bronze in ’07 in the Belgian White category at the North American Beer Awards, we decided to brew year-round and switch the name to Shock Top. We couldn’t be happier with our decision. And the best decision you can make is to try some Shock Top for yourself.

Poured from bottle hazy glowing yellow with thin fizzy head. Aromas of sweet lemon and more lemon prevail. Taste is same as aroma. This is basically a lemon drop candy. --- Beer merged from original tick of Lemon Shandy on 27 Jun 2015 at 20:00 - Score: 6

Orange color with white head. Orangey flavor. Nearly an orange juice. Not even too refreshing, and too sweet. More like a soda

12 ounce bottle. Murky orange, large fizzy off-white head, poor retention. Aroma of overwhelming butterscotch and mild banana. The taste is banana, citrus, wheat, butterscotch. Thin bodied, high carbonation, cloying sweetness. This easily could have been so much better.

Bottle. Raspberry, wheat malt, and straw aroma. Hazy golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet raspberry and light wheat malt flavor. Light body. Tolerable but not much malt comes out in the flavor.

Woof. Coriander nose. Citrus flavor yielding to fake banana flavor, like those Runts that I always throw away. Indistinct sweetness overwhelms the mouth, I guess its a honeyed component but something else I can’t place, and a flavor I’ve hardly ever encountered in beer. Its weird. Anyway, its not good, but it ain’t terrible, it remains somehow finishable. Cloudy but unlively golden appearance.

14th May 2015: 12oz bottle into a La Chouffe badged stemmed tulip glass. Hazy light orange pour with a full white head. Citrusy and spicy nose, the taste similar. Watery and thin body wise, the flavours also on the weak side, orange peel like feel to the taste, but not pleasant. Glad I didn’t buy this: it was brought to a BBQ by a guest.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a murky amber color with a medium sized foamy white head that left no lacing. The aroma was banana, wheat and yeast. The flavor was banana, phenol and bread dough. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.

Draught at SJ airport. Cloudy lemon with a thin head. Aroma is light perfume. Flavour is creamed wheat, tiny bit of bitterness, a little malt on the finish.

Pours a hazy straw from a bottle. Can barely detect an aroma, just kind of a general malty sweetness. Insipid beer, not much to go on on taste. Not skunky, just a general sweetness, a slight bite, if you can call it that, in terms of yeastiness. Not unpleasant, but really not anything at all.
