Description
Shock Top is a traditional Belgian-Style wheat ale. It was originally created in 2006 as a seasonal brew under the name Spring Heat Spiced Wheat. After collecting gold in ’06 and bronze in ’07 in the Belgian White category at the North American Beer Awards, we decided to brew year-round and switch the name to Shock Top. We couldn’t be happier with our decision. And the best decision you can make is to try some Shock Top for yourself.

Pours with a decent head and a fairly refreshing lemon aroma. Palate was more complex than I would have expected. The lemongrass and the coriander blend fairly well to make a decent beer. Worth the try.

Pours a better head than one might expect from a beer such as this. Good citrus aroma that is more appetizing than the taste of the beer itself. After taking a sip, the initial impression is of a lime-like flavor while the aftertaste is the coriander taste that is so typical of shock top. Not a bad beer.

Bottle. Strong grapefruit juice, light malt, and straw aroma. Golden yellow with moderate, short-lasting head. Moderately sweet grapefruit juice, very light malt, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Very light body - like spilling a light beer into your grapefruit juice - at least nothing unpleasant.

Barely cold bottle. Pours clear pale. Slight grapefruit aroma. Sweeter grapefruit taste, not much beer flavor in here, if any. Almost like a sweeter grapefruit soda. Alky comes thru a little in the end. Probably not attractive to a real beer lover.

Hazy golden orange pour with a fizzy khaki head and fair retention. No lacing. Strong citrus nose. Flat mouthfeel. Strong orange peel and grapefruit flavor on a weak wheat base. Refreshing.More of a fruit beer than a witbier (and I'm okay with that).
