Pours deep amber with a large fading head.Very heavy phenols on the nose along with herbal and earthy hops and a funky Belgian doughy yeast note.Very hoppy flavours but sticking to herbal, earthy and spicy varieties. Some subtle sweet malt and floral notes followed by an assertive but well-balanced bitterness.Feels a bit syrupy.

[5/13] What’s going on? Tap(ped today). Hazy golden amber with a white head that lasts. Who’s on the phone? Aroma of passionfruit and other tropical fruits, pine, nectarine, orange blossoms. Bartender says feijoa: yep. Love me? Oily. Big stone fruit sweetness brushed away by strong resinous bitterness. Peaches, tropical fruit, pepper, pine. Only a little boozy, pretty dangerously quaffable. Tight, punchy palate. Finish is dry: the sweetness is there early, but the gate slams shut on it leaving zingy aromatics and just a slight touch of booze. Want me? Pretty stunning stuff. [4/17] Tap. Again a couple of hours after it was tapped, this time by coincidence. There have been a number of other good Australian IIPAs recently (I might have to stop denying that I like them) but this still stands out for me. Mind you, most of them have been in bottles. A big aromatic hop punch. It’s sweet but not cloying and the "dry even more than bitter" finish is very good. If there weren’t a little touch of booze assisting with the dryness of the finish it’d be even more impressive. [4/18] Again by chance on Tusk day @ The Local Taphouse. Perhaps the finish is a bit too pithy this time. But really lovely.

From a 330ml bottle on 11/4/2013 (ABV listed as 7.6%, not 7.2%). Pours a cloudy dark golden with a small head. Has a lovely aroma with is fruity, floral and a little hoppy, with a touch of Belgian yeast and honey. In the mouth, it begins sweet, with loads of tropical and stone fruit (I get a lot of pineapple, apricot and mango), and more honey. This is balanced by a firm, satisfying bitterness with some grapefruit notes. This is all set against an ever so subtle spicy/peppery background. The body is quite full and the carbonation relatively lively. This is a terrific, complex and unusual brew which comes together beautifully. Great work by Feral.

Bottle, 7.6%.ABV Just hazy amber with an inch of off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, peach, dough and yep bubblegum. Creamy mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. Sweet with loads of fruit and some dough. Citrus cuts through and the finish is bitter and resiny with a little pepper and vanilla. Tasty, well balanced, very dangerously drinkable. Delivers.

From a 330ml bottle on 30/1/2013 (ABV 4.9%, not 4.7%). Pours a very dark amber with a big head. Has a strong smell of smoky bacon. Flavour wise, there’s lots of chocolate malt, molasses, and smoked meats. The bitterness is medium and the carbonation relatively lively. All up, a very pleasant smoked beer. Quite surprised it isn’t rated more highly.

Having read other reviews, I’d have to conclude that something went wrong. Smelled like sausage, tasted like sausage. Might have to try again and re-rate, but in the interim this is what it is, as the young people say.

Pours dark brown with a small head.Nose shows soft roasted malt with light nutty and toasty notes.Pretty gentle flavours. Light roast and very faint nutty malt provides the main show. Goes along the right lines but a bit plain really. Finishes weakly with very little bitterness.Body feels watery.
