Description
ShuBrew was opened in 2013 by Zachary and Erika Shumaker as a restaurant and brewery on Main Street in downtown Zelienople, PA. Their vision was to offer the community a selection of beers that they themselves love and food that would elevate the brewery experience. Our then chef and now partner, Patrick Wyman, took the menu to a new level and brought a from-scratch kitchen and cuisines from all over the world to our small town. Today Isaiah Yohn and Chris Taylor run our kitchen like a well-oiled machine and partnering with local purveyors, suppliers, and farmers daily, enabling seasonal menu changes and food designed to pair perfectly with a pint.
In 2016 the brewery moved to nearby Harmony, PA and while we don’t brew on-site anymore, we still have beer vibes permeating MainStreet.
In 2019, we became the first Butler county restaurant to earn a platinum designation from Sustainable Pittsburgh. We are doing our part to build a vibrant community and support environmentally responsible practices while giving customers a fun, friendly environment to eat, drink, and be merry!
We do take reservations and are on the Yelp waitlist for Android and iPhone. We also offer an intimate party room that can be rented for private functions; business related or personal.
Not into beer? Check out our wonderful selection of signature cocktails made with local spirits, local PA wine, and cider.

Nice stout aroma. Rather friendly for a foreign stout. Taste is not oystery like others I’ve had. Just plain good stout fel to this one. Dark black very attractive initially. Taste is a little strong as the session continues. Hides the 6% alky rather well. Goes down easy. Overall good rate beer experience.

Oh yes, much better than the typical jungleboot. Hotter and funner. Has some heat but not a whole lot. Not like a habenaro that is. Hoppy and bitter yea but those peppers really take the edge off. Much better than expected.

Cloudy vanilla yellah. Has an off tart aroma about it. Yes, initial tart flavor but not as tart as I was expecting. Actually could be a tad more sour. Has the slight taste and smell of my gramma’s old permanent hair treatment, but in a good way, you know, like slag. Not bad overall.

At the brewpub. Nice clean lager smell without any skunk. Just a tad hazy. Nice thin velvety smooth head. Has a little more personality than a typical pale lager, perhaps this is premium lager. Has a bite of czech pils in there fer sure. No real ill attributes on this one. Good overall beer experience.

Belgian yeast aroma and Belgian yeast flavors fer sure. Color is darker brown. Very mild co2. Tastes like a much higher ABV than listed. Not bad overall but yes that yeasty flavor is way up front at times.

Smells quite perfumy in a hoppy kind of way. Taste is very bitter hops up front. Perfume on nose carries over to the flavor. Barely any co2. Long bitter finish. The orange and peppercorns is much more apparent than the galosha version.

Sweet smell and sweeter initial taste. Perhaps a little too sweet at first but the flavor grows on you. Look is a little cloudy and there is barely any co2 in this brew. On tap at the brewpub in Zelie.

If you like IPA, you need to try this. It is certainly on style and in yer face. Looks like iced tea, cloudy iced tea. First taste is so very hoppy bitter. But now I’m thining its rye bitter? So bitter I can’t tell. Wew! A little co2 in here makes it a bit easier for me to take. The smell is that of mild IPA, a little like BO, but in a good way. Long bitter lingering finish. Again, if you like IPA, ignore my numbers and try this. Its terribly on style. I just never got a hankerin for this style.

Big and black with a slight creamy head. Slight roasty aroma. A medium mild first taste bud impression. Fairly easy and goes down well. Friendly as the session continues. Yes a good overall beer drinken experience. Good job Shu! Nice finish. Glad to have the chance to taste this one.

I’m not much to higher alky beers, so take my numbers with a grain of salt. It was there, so I tasted it. Barely any co2 in this stuff. Smell is simply clean and straightforward. Yeast up front on the nose. Same with the taste, the yeast seems to be forward. For nearly 8%, this stuff seems to be quite reserved, does not seem to be rude as the abv would indicate. Seems more like 6%. Small glass but I start to feel a little dizzy towards the end. Fairly smooth overall beer experience. Well done for such a higher alky brew.
