It was more than 335 years ago that Jean de Chaine from Wallonia founded a brewpub in Mannheim which he called Eichbaum, the German translation of his family name. Today, this is one of the largest and most efficient breweries in Baden-Württemberg. It is the oldest company in Mannheim but also one of the most modern. State-of-the-art brewing and bottling technologies make for an annual output of 1.8 million hectolitres. More than 16 different beers and many different trading units make Privatbrauerei Eichbaum an attractive partner.

Declared insolvency in late autmn 2025.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a lacing white head. Mild spiced cornish aroma. Flavour is classic cornish/malt flavoured with a light hoppy bitterness/spice note. Ends dry and light bitter.

Bottle. Barley malt aroma with light apple and astringent notes. Medium amber color with moderate head. Sweet barley malt and strong astringent hops flavor. Nice strong bock.

Canned (thanks mabjork). Hazy golden golden colour, small white head. Aroma is malty, with some green apples. Flavour is very sweet malts, alcohol and grass. Could be a doppelbock with some very sweet notes.

Hazy pale amber color, small white head. Grassy, brown sugary nose. Very sweet flavor, woody, grassy. Very bulk feeling here. High voltage alcohol for masses.

Bottle. Sour barnyard and barley malt aroma - lightly metallic. Hazy yellow color with giant white head. Spectacular strong musty barley malt flavoer. A great bottled Kellerbier - if you can’t get it fresh - this will work.

Wässriger Körper mit sehr leichter Herbe. Trockener Mittelteil mit lascher Herbe, weiterhin eher wässrig. Hopfenextrak-Nachgeschmack, herber werdend. Wirklich keine Meisterleistung, dieses Bier. Test vom 29.1.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,6,6,7,12,5 - 6,45

The bottle looks good, for the 400. jubilee of Mannheim. The beer in the glass looks not so good, a little bit turbid, not much foam. Flavor starts sourish, finish is vapid. Not really a good beer.

The bottle looks boring. The beer in the glass is okay. It’s drier than the pilsener from the brewery, that was also very dry. I don’t like it, not very drinkable.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. The flavor is modest spicy, dry too. The finish is much too dry. Only an average beer.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. The beer is not turbid - the mixed weizen must have been a kristallweizen. Very much foam. Tastes very fruity but also very sweet. A little bit too much. Not a good beer.
