Sampled on draft this beer poured a dark caramel-brown color with a trace white head that left no lacing. The aroma was malty, toasty and almost woody. The flavor was malty, lightly astringent, woody, toasty and had a bread crust note. Medium length finish. Medium body.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a black color with a large foamy brown head that left great lacing. The aroma was sweetish and malty with strong caramel. The flavor was sourish and malty with strong caramel, molasses, a bit of astringency and nut. Long finish. Moderately full bodied and smooth.
