650mL bottle, pours hazy golden blond with a white head. Dry pear, orange peel, champagne yeast and barnyard funk on the nose. Light flavour of yeast, dry pear and barnyard funk. Very nice - probably as good as Farmhand Ale.

Okay foggy yellow body, small head on top. Soft aroma of lemon and fermented orange juice. Flavour is a decent wheatbier mix with a slight detergent finish. Not bad; in the middle of the pack for this style.

Has a decent amber-gold body with a good layer of head on top. Okay sharp hoppy aroma like the Belgians do. Flavour is a bitter malt with plenty of hops and a dry finish; no sweetness at all, which I find a little odd but not entirely bad. Not too complex, however; and I’d prefer just a touch of sweetness to keep the tastebuds fully satisfied.

Black, with a tan head that dissipates immediately. Woody nose, vanilla , brown sugar and alcohol. Vinous astringent start, woody mid. Harsh alcohol heat and bitterness. Anisette overtones The unpleasant bitterness in the finish is from alcohol, not roast or hops Not exactly complex or well blended Actually a big waste of time and money

Pours with a clear medium amber body and a bit of head on top, nice aroma of malt, grass, and hay like a bière de garde. Taste is sweet malt with grass hints; this could easily be from France. And that’s a compliment.

Very nice large solid head and a darkish yellow with some fog, quite good in the world of golden ales. Very hoppy aroma, almost IPA-ish. Flavour is essentially that of an IPA with just a hint of bready malts in there to indicate otherwise. Not bad, very drinkable.

2021 rating: 650mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Nose is full of smoky bourbon, woody oak, deep roasted malt, some molasses, and a hint of liquorice. Flavour is rich and complex, with smoky bourbon and woody oak upfront, followed by deep roasted malt and dry molasses. Really nice barrel character, with a nice alcohol kick that never oversteps. This is much better than I remember. Excellent. 2012 rating: 650mL bottle, pours black with a tan head. Dense aroma of bourbon, oak, vanilla, molasses and a hint of licorice, and tons of booze. Flavour is incredibly boozy, with bourbon and oak throughout and lingering notes of bitter chocolate / molasses and vanilla. The booze is terribly worked in and the bourbon dominates. Thin palate for it is and not rich in complexity. Not so good.

Sparkling mahogany, beige head. Nose of piney spicy hops, somewhat green and unripe.Sweet start, spicy hops, molasses and brown sugar. Some strong alcohol heat, with a long hop finish. Has some promise, but the nose isn’t pleasant, and it is a bit rough around the edges. Needs to mellow for a year or two

Thanks Jonas (and CapFlu?). Slightly pinkish, light amber. The aroma has candy cherry with some alcoholic notes. Sweet alcohol on the palate with some cherry notes. Fairly straightforward brew, not much going on. Most of these strong fruit beers don’t work out well.

Bottle and on tap many times, pours a hazy golden with a white head. Nose brings out loads of piney and resinous hops; this is a hophead's paradise. Flavour is very similar, with loads of dry piney hops and resin, with a slight woody characteristic and just enough biscuity malt to back. One of the best local IPAs and always a pleasure to drink.
