Description
First, you need to pronounce it right… it’s pronounced with a Z. Zul.

It might make you think of something you heard from a classic 80’s movie or a 90’s computer game. Urban Dictionary defines it as “bad in a cool kind of way” or “cool in a baaaad kinda way.”

To us, it’s all of this, and more.

Can from Tavour: pours light orange with white head. Aroma is huge tropical fruitiness, no popcorn from the riwaka which is always a pleasure. Huge sweetness. Large fruitiness. Very nice.

Can from Tavour to glass. Canned October 24, 2022. Citrus and tropical fruit blend well with the yeast to create a robust aroma. Slushy dirty yellow with white head that retains throughout. Flavor is overt orange and citrus. Medium full mouthfeel. With a nice moderately dry finish. Really nice.

Taster pour from a can at Munchie Madness festival, 2022. It's an opaque yellow with light sparkle, thin ring of white head and light lacing. Aroma is citrus, grapefruit and light herb. Taste is citrus, grapefruit with milder grape/herb in back half. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, average-to-lively carbonation and finish as taste with light lingering bitterness. Overall, aroma and initial taste is fairly conventional NEIPA but Nelson pokes through in back half for interest (a bit understated). Carbonation distracts a bit.

Not bad for the style, with a toasted corn undertone and a bright, grainy sweetness on the front. Spice and citrus notes lead to a yeast-tinged finish. Lingering corn and a little apple in the fade. Decent.
