Description
It was in the spring of 1997 that Dominique Camus, a chemical technician better known by the nickname Léo, moved with his family to La Chapelle Saint-Ouen. A few months later, Northmæn craft beer was born!
During the first years, the production is done in two, in an old barn of 200 m², with milk tanks, where 700 liters of beer came out every day. In the meantime, the young brewer buys up to 30 hectares of land to grow his own barley, and effectively becomes a farmer. Likewise, the brewery becomes a farm-brewery. The first Norman whiskey, named Thor Boyo, was released Christmas 2002.
Subsequently, to meet the exponential demand for beer (and soon for whiskey), a new 1500 m² building was built in summer 2004. This brewery is constantly evolving, with a current area of nearly 2,000 m², from which 4,000 liters of beer (4,500 hectoliters per year) come out daily.
A new cellar is being built to increase the production of whiskey, and a distillery is in the pipeline to free the brewery and thus allow the production of beer to be doubled, as well as to offer a 100% organic range in the short term.

Cloudy amber beer. No head and low carbonation. Crisp palate though! Sweetich malt with subtle peach and strawberry. Semi dry sweetish malt finish. A somewhat odd beer, watery for it’s strength!

Bought at the Cave a Bulles. Murky golden body, clearly not a rousse. And it doesn’t seem that it only happened to me. Quality control ftw. Gluey sweet chalky nose with some lime. Light Belgian banana taste. A fistful of beet. Dry, bitterish and ashy. Some banana thought too. Didn’ t like it that much, And should probably move the rating to the Blonde.

Foggy orange-brown body, nice off-white head that’s quite solid. Soft hop and malt aroma, simplicity. Taste is smooth malts with a bit of spice and a dry finish. Very drinkable, and relaxing, though not complex in the least.

330ml Bottle - Hazy golden with lively carbonation. Pineapple, grapefruit and tea in the aroma (reminds me of Lilt!). Apple and pineapple feature in the taste. A bit flat, but drinkable all the same.

I usually quite enjoy subtle, subdued beers in this style, but this is subtle to the point of being boring - aroma of white wine, oxidation, cork - lemony tang and a fair amount of oxidation in the flavor as well - some banana, honey, a touch of floral character - a light doughiness - meh.
