Keg at the Flint Cottage, Wycombe. Black with a thick beige head and a light fizz. Black coffee and caramel with - unfortunately - a hint of vomit. Rather thin. Not great.

Keg at the Flint Cottage, Wycombe. Rich gold colour with a white head and a light fizz. Pleasant enough tropical fruit aroma - mango and pineapple - diminishes considerably in the taste. Mild bitterness. Watery and rather bland. Inoffensive and forgettable.

Keg draught at Brewpoint, Bedford. Reddish light brown, clear with a ring of beige head. Sweet, malty aroma, with some caramel and treacle. Sweet and just a little bit cloying with notes of golden syrup. Strong boozy finish with a little stone fruit in the aftertaste. Flat body. I like this.

Keg tap at Brewpoint, Bedford. Dark brown, only a bit translucent with a foamy beige/tan head. Deep, malty aroma with chocolate notes and a hint of black cherry. Sweet taste, not so much to it but that is typical of the style. More gooey malt in the finish. Lightly carbonated. Very nice.

Keg at the Flint Cottage, HWY, 01/06/21. Black with a good sized lasting tan cap. Nose is a little on the thin side... dried fruits, modest roast, light cocoa strains. Taste comprises dried fruits, touch of chocolate malt, hint of red berry fruits, light roasted bite. Medium bodied, fine massaging carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough easy going stout.

Keg at the Flint Cottage, HWY, 01/06/21. Clear golden with a decent off white head. Nose is crisp malts, tangerine, melon, grass, citric tinged straw. Taste comprises orange zest, airy malts, melon, mellow tropical fruits, grass. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with mellow juicy hop bitterness. Sips fine if no wow offered.

330ml can delivered from the brewery and drunk at home. Deep gold, clear with a ring of white head. Floral hop aroma, orange peel, some pine and gummy resin. Sweet taste, there's some lip-amacking hop bitterness in the finish but for the most part it's surprisingly sweet. It's much further down the pecking order than the best IPAs on either side of the pond, but it stands on its own pretty well and has been the best of the Brewpoint beers I've tried.
