Description
"It all started in 1980… Hugh Sisson, a Maryland native, theater grad school major, and all-around good guy, joins his family’s restaurant & bar, “Sisson’s” located on Cross Street in South Baltimore.
Craft beer wasn’t even on the radar back then. But, Hugh quickly recognized that to run a business, you need to do something to be different.
Light bulb moment: “What if we turned Sisson’s into a brewpub and brewed our own beer?”
Solid plan, right? Problem: Brewpubs weren’t legal in Maryland at the time.
In 1987, Hugh worked with Maryland legislators to draft a bill to legalize brewpubs in Baltimore City – the bill passed on first attempt. Fast forward to 1989, “Sisson’s” becomes the first brewpub in the state of Maryland.
After the brewpub scene for a few years, Hugh felt the need for a bigger stage (theater-pun intended.) In 1994, he left “Sisson’s” for his next business venture… and the rest, friends, is nothing short of Maryland craft beer history"

Bubblegum nose, fairly strong. Clear copper, medium head. Whoa! All bubblegum. Aspirin finish. Medium body, easy carbonation. So artificial. These Tropicannon variants have been bizarre.

Dark gold pour. Even lace. Sweet fruity nose that smells very enticing. The initial drink was perfume, very faint fruit notes that were underneath the sour flavor.

From a can, big dark impressive pour with a head to look at. Nose is slightly roasted dark malt. Heavy volatile boozy dark beer initial uptake in the pie whole. Yes, quite a whack. Was expecting something more civilized but hey, its heavy seas (HS) and I see the label is 6.8%. I guess I should have known, not many heavy HS brews are civilized, can't remember many. Good slug tho; I think this should be styled as a baltic porter, it really does have the same forward attributes, you know, in yer face a little, telling you what it is, heheh. hey comrade, I'm a big fat porter, get used to it' Yes, pretty long old damp, mostly burnt, campfire wood charcoal, remains as a finish. There you have it.

Pours very hazy pale yellow with a small white head. It has a very citrusy aroma. Definitely tangerine. The flavor is malty, citrus heavy, and hoppy (resin). Bitterness is moderate at most. The 9.5% abv is not very noticeable. It could pass as lower. Medium to full bodied.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine. Pours a pure black color with a light brown head and good retention. Minimal spots of lacing. Faint chocolate aroma. Roasted chocolate malts flavor with a roasty and warming finish. Fairly subtle mix of flavors, and not as sweet as I expected for a dessert beer. Definitely a sipper. Medium-heavy body. Light carbonation. Some bitterness from the dark chocolate. The 9.0% ABV is somewhat hidden, but you feel it in the finish, especially as it warms.

Big tangerine presence. Not particularly hoppy, a smidgen malty.

🇵🇱 2-0🇸🇦. Robert Lewandowski finally ends his World Cup duck in his fifth appearance in the competition. Very interesting final day of this group on Wednesday.
