Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aroma of mangos and pineapple. Taste has lime, citrus, mango, bitter cracked pepper. Palate has pepper, bitter citrus. Weird.

Pours clear Golden. Aroma of sweet pineapple juice. Taste has pineapple, pine, lemon. Palate has pineapple juice followed by lingering resinous hop oils. Very good.

Deep beautiful rose coloured body with a bright pink glow and a lot of orange and coppered tints towards the bottom, all with a very nice two to three centimetre all off-white and just-barely pink tinted head - very nice, especially for the style. Aroma of hibiscus, raspberry and pure lemon notes with a tiny bit of malts and a dash of flowers towards the end, but relatively soft and lightly sweet from fruit-based sugars and even a touch of caster sugar. Light-bodied; Very tart and flavourful dry cranberry and raspberry flavours show through with a lot of unfinished sugars as well from fructose and pure icing sugar along with a dry wheatie and yeast note along with a touch of flower and hay on the dry side of things. Aftertaste is dry and very tart with some hibiscus and raspberry notes hitting the hardest along with a dash of grass and flowers as well. Overall, a pretty soft and fruity beer with a great tart side of things, but not overly done and showing a slightly puckered palate and mouth-watering qualties, but on a refreshing scale. Very nice to try, especially on one of the hottest and easily the most humid day of the year so far! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Giant Food in Falls Church, Virginia on 13-January-2020 for US$1,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 28-May-2020.

This beer is a dark reddish-mahogany color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates quickly to a film. Oak, cherry and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of tart cherry, oak, wheat and malt. The finish is tart and oaky with a cherry aftertaste. Decent overall.

Beer #7 of 17 (8 beers on either side of #8000 plus the magic 8000th itself) Very nice, slightly cloudy and hazy deep copper and bronze tinted body with a subdued two to three centimetre tall off-white head with a tan glow that fades relatively quickly, but leaves a subdued white lace on the side of the glass. Aroma of alcohol, candy sugar, yeast, apricots, coriander seed, curacao and a heavy hand of rye grain with some oak and dryness towards the end, but the warmth and dryness does show the most throughout the nose. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong citrusey, yeastie, bready flavours show at first with some oak and rye notes that aren't boozey at all, but do show the complexity and depth of the malt bill and aging process with a light fruity note in the middle showing some apricots and peaches and finishing out with a curacao and dry warmth of alcohol and grain. Aftertaste is deep and robust with the curacao and the yeast coming strongest and show a lot of nice complexities and range on the finish with some sweetness, dry pungency and a robust floral and grassy bit at the end. Overall, a very nice, super complex and well-balanced tripel that is structured nicely with the rye, but not bourbon as it shows more complexity without being overwhelming and the dry, yeast elements are pervasive, but the alcohol is kept in check, nicely. A great beer that has been aged well and perhaps is at an optimal time to drink? I'm not sure since I only had the single bottle, but this one wasn't assertive, pungent or astringent, but did have body, effervescence, complexity and deep flavours - seemingly a perfect balance in aging. This was the seventh beer of my 8000th celebration and it was yet another step up in my beers during the celebration. I sampled this 65 cL bottle, purchased from Costco in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 21-January-2018 for US$7,69 sampled at my house in Washington on 21-April-2020, as Beer #7 (of 17) of the 8000th Beer Celebration!

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thick-ish, two to three centimetre tall rich brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramelised sugars, coffee, pitted fruit and a dose of anise - All very nice and potent throughout. Medium-bodied; Strong rich roasted malt flavours dominate with a good coffee and nutty bitterness at first with a big kick of grain and caramel, with more chocolate and sweetness from the pitted fruits. Aftertaste is bitter, but full of flavour with some of the grassy hop flavours coming through on the end, but a big pack of nuts and roasted malt show more punch, and the alcohol is there as well in a noticeable, but non-pungent way. Overall, a nice and strong Black IPA that shows the malt and hop balance well with a lot of pungent qualities, but packed with flavour. A complete and enjoyable beer that is well-recommended, especially if you like the style. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Giant Food in Arlington (Columbia Pike), Virginia on 21-November-2019 for US$1,87 sampled at home in Washington on 26-November-2019.
