Sample at the taproom. Clear dark amber color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates steadily. Sticky small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, caramel and hops. Light to medium body with flavors of caramel malt, earthy hops and mild fruit. The finish is malty up front with a mildly hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sample at the taproom. The beer pours a clear yellow-orange color with a medium white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of fruit, yeast and malt. Light-bodied with a floral yeast character and flavors of sweet malt and honey plus a bit of fruit. The finish is sweet with an herbal yeast and fruit aftertaste. Decent overall.

Meduim brown, aroma is thin toasty stout. The poblano shows on the palate, but doesn’t really blend well with the sweetish fudgey malts.

Tap at Stapleton Tap House - hazy copper pour - nose of dusty yeast, light esters, caramel, husky grains, light copper - flavor is messy spiciness, husky grains, light metal, mildly dirty phenols - some biscuit and strong spiciness in the finish - messy, but not undrinkable.

Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. Brownish-black color with a medium tan head and partial rings of lace. Roasted malt and coffee in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of coffee, chocolate and roast malt. The finish is roasty with a short malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Tap @ the Inaugural Boulder IPA Fest. Pours a hazy, dark orange appearance with a tan head. Caramel, grapefruity, orange, balanced but a bit odd aroma. Toasty malty, earthy, grapefruity, fairly smooth flavor.

Tap @ brewery. Hazy orange appearance with an off white head. Piney, a touch citrusy, earthy hoppy aroma. Toasty malty, fairly bitter, moderately piney, earthy hoppy flavor. Pretty bitter finish. More hoppy than the ipa.

Tap @ brewery. Dark brown appearance with a brown head. Dark chocolate, moderate roasty coffee aroma with a hint of vanilla. Nice dark chocolate malty, somewhat roasty flavor with a not very spicy, bell pepper finish. The peppers weren’t spicy and it kind of have a fajita flavor. Despite that, it was my favorite during my visit.

Tap @ hazy, orange appearance with an off white head. Fairly bland, earthy, light citrus hoppy aroma. Somewhat bitter, earthy, herbal hoppy flavor but really there wasn’t much going on.
