473mL can, pours a clear dark amber with a medium tan head. Aroma reveals plenty of resinous hops and woody pine, dry toasted caramel, and bready malt. Flavour is rich in hops, with plenty of woody pine and resinous hops, backed by a dry, bready malt. Woody, pine, resinous, very dry finish. Mmm, this is great.

12 oz. can, pours black with a medium brown head. Nose is rich and decadent, with a delightful mix of cinnamon, vanilla and cocoa upfront, a tiny hint of chilis, and maybe a touch of barrel. Flavour is very deep and yet cohesive, with a wonderful expression of cinnamon upfront that is tempted by the cocoa and vanilla, accentuated with a touch of chili spice, and rounded a bit by the barrels. Soft carbonation that brings out the deep flavour integration very well. Excellent.

12 oz can poured, picked up at Special Brews. I've decided that 12 oz can of BA brew from Single Hill, it's automatically a standout, excellent product. Dark brown, near black pour. Moderate foam head that slowly fades. Layered aroma with chocolate, caramel, coconut, and oak. Aroma really suggests a big dessert beer, but flavor remains more bold than that. Coconut and chocolate are definitely up front, and the main focus here, but more subtle notes of coffee and bourbon round this out nicely. Toasty coconut and barrel finish. Nothing harsh about this big barrel stout. All smooth and delicious. Incredible brew. Must love coconut.

12 oz can poured, picked up at Special Brews. Pours her black, with a somewhat gushing tan foam head. This series has been nothing short of incredible. Big whiskey nose upon cracking the can. A touch of peat, and a hint of caramel also present on the aroma. Gentle body to this imperial stout, allows for easy drinking. Whiskey sits up front here, and more subtle notes of tobacco and espresso. A slight dark chocolate lingers late. Smooth tasting imperial that's an absolute barrel show off. Love this.

12 oz can poured, picked up at Special Brews. Second can of this in as many years. Just an incredible imperial stout, and I really do think that Single Hill makes them as good as anyone in the state. Near black pour. Moderate tan head. Cocoa and nutty aroma with some oak, and a soft whiskey. Flavor is very well balanced, and incredibly smooth. Layered with whiskey, hazelnut, caramel, oak, chocolate. The latter being the most subtle but everything seems to be well rounded. Don't even need to love hazelnut to find this beer fascinating. Love this.

Black body with off white head. Malt and hop aroma. Well balanced taste hop and malt with a thick hop skin. Yummy. Good rendering of a now rare style.

12 oz. can, pours black with a small tan head -- seems like a thin body for the style. Aroma reveals a light but all-encompassing whiskey barrel character, with light sugars and a hint of roast. Flavour reveals plenty of subtle whiskey barrels, lots of wood, gentle dark sugars, and a nice toasted malt base. The barrel imparts a very woody, nicely attenuated (but still amply sweet), slightly boozy character. This drinks very easily, as the body is on the lighter side for the style, which I appreciate, as it's not too heavy and allows the fine barrel character to shine. Excellent.

16 oz. can, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out bright spicy, grassy hops, some pine, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is full of tangy, grassy, piney hops, and crisp crackery malt. Piney, tangy, citrus finish. Bright and crisp. Excellent.

16 oz. can, pours a minimally hazy blonde with a medium white head. Nose brings out those Motueka hops upfront, with a wonderfully white wine tanginess to the hop expression, along with subtle grass and pine, and a crisp biscuity malt underside. Flavour is likewise very bright, with big tangy NZ hops, grassiness, pine, and crisp crackery malt. Almost has the hop bite of an IPA but with the cripsness of a pils. Yeah, this is excellent.
