Description
The Knoblach inn has been in Schammelsdorf since 1880 and it has been brewing there for about this long. Today Michael Knoblach is the resident master brewer. The Knoblachs are deeply rooted in their homeland and maintain good contact with regional suppliers and farmers. They attach great importance to preserving and actively promoting the diversity of the Bamberg region. For this purpose, the raw materials are, as far as possible, bought exclusively from the region. This not only has the advantage of boosting the domestic economy, but is also reflected in the quality. The ingredients couldn't be fresher.

Dark golden to light orange colour, almost perfectly transparent; healty frothy white head shows good retention and nice lacing. Aroma is light cereal with a herbal/grassy hop note and hints of fruitiness (lightly citric, hints of apple), overall vivid enough. Taste: a sweetish cereal and crackery malts base, maybe a hint of honey, light fruitiness as per aroma, good dose of grassy and flowery hops in a firm bitter finish (definitely more bitter than the average keller). Light bodied, delicate carbonation as usual per style. Overall ok, but i was not impressed.

Tap at Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fa (Rome-Italy). Amber clear pour, frothy cap with drafts on the glass. Nose: grainy-driven aroma, yeast-bready, a bit floral. Mouth: frizzy carbonation, sweet malty although quite bitter. Superb Marzen. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
