What’s an underdog?

Someone with the odds stacked against them? The guy who’s “supposed to lose?”

Maybe. Maybe not.

But the Underdog isn’t about where you’re from. It’s where you’re at.

It’s an attitude, and one you don’t want to mess with.

It’s fighting for the little guy.

It’s taking down a giant.

It’s Cassius Clay in ‘64 and Jake Lamotta in every swing.

It’s Joe Namath’s guarantee.

It’s the Miracle in Lake Placid, the helmet catch that ruined perfection, and it’s Michael Jordan’s

high school coach telling him better luck next year.

But it can also be anyone.

Anyone who’s ever wanted to do something that someone told them they couldn’t.

Like the woman who invented windshield wipers.

Or the first guy to put marshmallows in his cereal. Love that guy.

It’s young Steve Jobs, but it’s also Steve, from accounting, who just wants to do one hell of a job.

It’s anyone who’s ever upset the odds, and anyone who continues to do so.

That’s an underdog.

On tap at BeerHaus. Pours a clear straw yellow with a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has lots of straw and bread with a hint of sweetness. Flavor has lots of straw and grains with a bit of sweetness in the finish.

From a 12 oz can. Pours a clear gold with a white head. Aromas of corn and grass. Flavors are sweet bready cereal grains. Nothing special here.

From a pint can. Pour a murky brownish amber with a thick off white head. Aromas of grass and caramel. Flavors are moderately bitter pine with some sweet toffee.

Sampled from the tap at Able Baker. Pours a clear yellow gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of hay with notes of straw and a hint of sweetness underlying. Flavor has a touch of biscuit with hay and straw notes supporting.

12 oz. can purchased at Total Wine - Henderson, NV. Pours a clear straw yellow color with a fizzy white head and good retention. Fair lacing. Has a pilsner malt aroma. Pretty standard pale malt profile. Clean, lightly crisp mouthfeel and lightly sweet finish. Not bitter. A very serviceable, macro tasting beer.
