Description
A team of Faroese entrepreneurs are collaborating on building the islands’ latest brewery, located in the country’s capital, Tórshavn.
The brewery is called OY, a shortened word for “oyggj(ar)”, which means “island(s)”.
OY’s production capacity stands at approximately 1.2 million litres. In Faroese terms, it will be one of the islands’ biggest breweries. Internationally, it qualifies as a microbrewery.
OY will look to establish itself in the Faroe Islands first and foremost. In time, the plan is to start exporting its products.
Initially, OY will primarily focus on brewing and selling mainstream beers like pilsner, strong beer, IPA, and cider. Once those are up and running, special beers will also be added to OY’s beer catalogue. OY will function as a brewpub, offering beer tasting and tours, and will include a small shop with OY merchandise.

Draught at MBCC 2023, Red Session. Clear orange body, dotted spots on the glassware, low beige head. Smoked malty aromas, alright, hints of ripe fruits. Ham-like smoked flavours mixed with light malty sweetness and some fruits. Smoked, malt-fruity ending. Pretty alright. (Copenhagen, 06.05.2023).
