Draught (Red Fred, Riga) - Amber in colour wih a slight haze and a small head. Grassy and slightly citrussy aroma with some hops and grapefruit. Clean tasting and refreshing. A good malt and hop balance and a fair amount of body for the style. The after taste has a hint of peach and passion fruit. Not bad at all.

Bottled. Nut brown, creamy head. Aroma of butterscotch and toffee. Medium sweet and medium bodied. Mild and soft with lightly cellary buttery malt. Rather rich with notes of grass. Really good! Quite possibly the best Latvian beer I’ve had.

Bottled. Lightly hazy golden, small head. Dough and grass. Mid sweet with medium body and well rounded mouthfeel. Some hay and grass. Mid bitter finish. Old rating.Bottled. Cloudy golden, small head. Overpowering offputting stale cellar aroma with powerful notes of diacetyl and butyric acid. Sweet and soapy with old Soviet style unclean flavour. The malt profile however is soft and would be pleasant if it wasn’t for the full array of brewing faults that completely dominates this beer. Very aggresive and oily. Too bad that the one Latvian brewer I’ve tried that seems to have any ambition also seem to have sever quality issues (1/4/2/2/4 - 1.3).

Clear ruby brown with steady brown head. Aroma has lots of caramel and diacetyl. Oily palate, very uninteresting and plain. Dry aftertaste.

Copper brown w/ creamy head. Aroma is of earthy, caramelly malts and a hint of toast, then diacetyl. Soft, sweet caramel notes are the main feature. Simple, but decent.

Slightly hazy golden colour. Odd toasty, malty, grainy aroma. Smooth shortcakey malt flavour. Soft herbal hoppiness carries things forward. Clean, gentle, subtle.
