Description
My name is Jessy Jolicoeur. I’m the head brewer and owner of Oval Craft Brewing. My brewing experience is primarily in homebrewing. I started homebrewing in 1997 while in college. My education is in biology with a significant focus in microbiology. The micro work lends itself to brewing very well. The arrival of my children meant taking a little break from brewing, because it was so difficult to keep everything clean! Since then, I’ve completed a course at the American Brewer’s Guild and also the “Start Your Own Brewery” course at the Seibel Institute in Chicago.
Now I've been in business since 2016. I tend to create balanced beers that are easy to drink. I prefer to work in subtleties so my beer is always beer first then the secondary flavors will come through. You can find everything from New England IPAs to Oatmeal Stouts on tap. I don't concentrate on any particular styles. I like to have variety of flavors for anyone's unique tastes.
I look forward to you coming in to enjoy my creations and the Oval Craft tasting room! If you can’t make it down to visit us in person, look for my beer on tap in local restaurants and bars in the Plattsburgh area.

Growler brought home and poured into a mug.
Appearance: dark brown close to black in color with slim white foamy head which quickly slid off and didn't leave any lace
Aroma: deep roasted malts, coffee bean scents, dark chocolate, baker's chocolate
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas together sweetly and roasty; semi-bitter coffee aftertaste
Texture: medium bodied, leaning towards being a sipper, pretty good smoothness along tongue; finishes somewhat roasty and toasty
Overall: a higher "strength" sort of porter that I believe I could come back to.

On draft at the brewery.
In a pint glass.
Appearance: dark amber to brown color with a thin cap of a white foamy head, quick dissipation, barely any lace
Aroma: nutty, malty, subtle cocoa powder, mild toastiness
Flavor: semi-sweet, toasty & roasty, mild nutty aftertaste
Texture: light bodied, sessionable, clean nutty finish
Overall: good brown ale worthy of returning to. I felt like playing Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man on guitar while drinking this.

Growler brought home.
Poured into a mug.
Appearance: dark brown close to black color with a finger's worth of white foamy head, good dissipation, mild lace
Aroma: chocolate malts, some roastiness, light tones of dark bread, subtle cocoa powder
Flavor: mostly sweet, but ample roastiness comes in for balance, roasty and toasty aftertaste
Texture: light to medium bodied, kind of a sipper of a beer (which I say is good), mild roasty finish
Overall: pretty nice as a stout but kinda thought an oatmeal stout would be creamier, eh oh well, I still think I could come back to.
