Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours a slightly hazy dark copper with a medium sized foamy off-white head. Some malts and floral hops in the aroma. In the mouth it is slightly sweet and decidedly watery. Not much flavour to be found anywhere. Some slight hoppiness later on but that’s about it. Very disappointing.

Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a sizeable frothy cream head. Roast malts are the mainstay of the aroma, plus a hint of lactose. Roasted malts again in the mouth where it is slightly sweet with s creamy texture and some liquorice flavour too. Fairly quickly the alcoholic strength becomes evident, and starts to dominate. Some traces of nuts and dried fruit too, leading to a boozy dry finish. This is quite nice, but a bit rough and ready.

Skipton Beer Festival 2024. Near black in colour. Strong tasting exuding a soapiness in its dark malts. Fair aroma. Traditional porter taste notable in its aftertaste.

Bradford Beer Festival 2023. Clear golden in colour. Full of caramels that linger long in the taste, it certainly is an odd take on a blonde, but a tasty one. Some honeycomb in aroma.

Cask @ Meandering Bear, Halifax. Clear golden with a thick creamy-frothy head. Hopped with a light bitterness. Perhaps understated in the main but a drinkable cask brew all the same.

Dark roasty taste with a bit of a kick in the aftertaste. Definitely more stout than porter

Cask @ The Hebden, (formerly The Pub), Hebden Bridge. Clear golden with a glow and a small head. Hoppy, mildly sweet, very much a golden ale in style with a very good body.
