Bottle from Scurreria Beer & Bagel and thoroughly enjoyed at Spianata Castelletto whilst watching the sun go down over Genoa. Beer pours a hazy amber colour with a small but lasting off white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, fruit, vanilla and lightly herbal. Medium sweetness, light bitterness, and a touch of sour. Medium to full body, sticky texture, soft carbonation. Finish is somewhat dry, with some bitterness and a sour edge. Maybe not a fruit beer? But thought it a very good beer!

Leighton’s flat clearance. Hazy gold beer, good cream colour head. Palate is airy, semi dry. Modest fine carbonation. Airy malts, mildly sweet. Mild wood. Sweet dessert wine fruits. Little spice. Crystallised fruits. Light semi dry finish. Tasty enough. Maybe more time would benefit.

Medium sweet flavour with pale bread, ripe citrus, tangerin meringue, low bitterness. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, with bready pale malts, more ripe citrus, dough, meringue. Enjoyable.

Bottle thanks to Kenny. It pours light hazy orange - amber with a medium white head. The aroma is sweet, stinky, pear, apple, stewed orange, nectarine, dried mango, sugary filth and loads of sugary candy. The taste is sweet, sticky, sugary, sweet white wine, candied fruits, nectarine, peach, icing sugar, booze and wood with a sweet, sticky finish. Medium - full body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Far too sweet and sticky for the likes of me. Fair.

Taste comprises sweet malts, caramel, toffee, light spice, dark fruit rinds, candy bar. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok easy drinking BW but lacks complexity for the ABV.

75cl bottle @ Finissons ces pétroles tasting, merci Vincent. Cuivre, col fin beige.

Pours almost black with a nice cappuccino coloured frothy head. Aroma is very complex and intriguing, quite roasty but I can definitely also taste the grapes! They give a fruity feel to the stouty aroma. Maybe even some hints of chocolate. Quite thick mouthfeel. Flavour is also very complex, quite roasty, but smooth. It is vinous, quite earthy, prune and especially cherry notes, really feels like a mix of an imperial stout and a good red wine. Finish is smooth and herbal sweet, has something of a red wine finish but also bitter. Doesn’t linger as long as most impys though. Brilliant beer and really exciting to try a grape ale.

Bottle @ LIBF’16. 75cl bottle courtesy of Valerio @ La Tana.

Clear pale yellow beer, aery creamy off-white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: bit fruity, floral touch, bit sweet. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, bit floral, soft hoppiness, bitter. Aftertaste: bitter, bit soapy, hoppy, fruity finish.
