bottle. Rather unusual: a dark low alcohol Hefeweizen. Brown colour, cloudy, massive and persistent head. Fruity and malty, hints of caramel. Thin flavour due to the fact that it is a low alcohol beer, but still quite a nice thirst-quencher.

Draught in Nürnberg
Hazy orange color, decent creamy white head. Dry wheaty nose with notes of lemon. Dry mouthfeel too, light palate, wheaty but not very fruity. Crisp finish with some banana notes. Simple.

500ml vom Fass on a riverboat trip at Donau from Kelheim to Weltenburg (very nice, indeed). Creamy white head over a hazy, dark brown body. Served in a special and inviting Kuchlbauer glass. Aroma has got a touch of chocolate and coffee. Spicy (clove) flavour mixed with sweet fruits. Slightly roasted impression. Finish off with hints of yeast (21.06.2007)

Bottle. Murky amber (cola) color with a large frothy to creamy good lacing mostly lasting off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty and yeasty, light caramel, earth, banana, some smoke ? Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat.

Very huge, brownish tinted head, as whipped eggwhite; over hazy coca-cola coloured beer. Bit of caramel, as well as other melanoidin-tainted dark malts. Bit of smoked ham, too; wheat and bananaester. Liquorice, wheat with a point of sourness, citrus (orange, lemon). Very perceptible CO² both in flavour as in MF. My wife says iron, she might have a point. Pretty thick, slick-wheaty texture, creamy and CO². Seems to promise a lot, but then disappoints. "Alte Liebe" - no doubt: remembrance or promises and a lot of disappointments. Apt, though the Germans claim it doesn’t rust.

Bottled. Hazy, orange beer with lively carbonation, large chunks of yeast and a large fluffy, white head. Banana, cloves, malt and hints of citrus in the aroma. It is quite dry and fizzy in the mouth, with banana, cloves and sweet malt in the flavor. Some bitterness in the finish. Refreshing and decent weisse. (060628)
