Description
We are a brewery, taproom, and beer garden in the Scott's Addition neighborhood of Richmond, Virginia.
Ardent Craft Ales began as a co-op in a Richmond garage, a space where we sought to create innovative beers and introduce others to historic brewing methods and beer styles. As a production brewery, our mission remains the same: to produce and celebrate exceptional and ambitious beers with the ever-growing craft beer community.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thin off-white head that fades quickly and leaves barely a thin lace on the top. Aroma of earth, caramel malts, light toffee, subdued hay and flowers with a ton of earl grey and even bergamot notes that show tea leaves but more of the spice quality. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong earthy and grainy flavours show up front with a big sweetness from caramelised sugars, toffee and especially molasses showing through, but the softer tea notes remain strong, in a great way - the lavender and pungent earl grey notes are pungent. Aftertaste shows a soft sweetness from the caramelised sugars, a light dose of hay and earthiness with a dry bite towards the end and a good dose of earl grey tea as well. Overall, a nice and robust beer with a lot of earthy malts, some peated notes, a light hit of caramelised sugars and brown sugar elements, but the tea and earl grey, bergamot and lavender aspects are here and in full effect. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 01-February-2021 for US$3,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 24-May-2021.

Deep pure clear golden coloured body with a lot of effervescence and a small, single centimetre tall just off-white head that fades quickly and leaves nothing up top. Aroma of pure lager yeast, dry grainy malts with a dash of cardboard noticeable along with some crisp lemons and citrus fruits and a light dose of caster sugar and no other fruitiness or complexities - fairly straight-forward, at least in the nose. Light-bodied; Dry, very grassy and herbal flavours dominate at first with a hint of citrus fruits and very mild sweetness, a bigger hit of flowers and grain and a pungent yeast quality that shows well throughout. Aftertaste is dry, citrusey, pungent, floral and littered with fresh-cut grass and crisp lager yeasts with a clean finish - very nice and super easy drinking. Overall, a nice and well-balanced, dry, floral and lightly citrusey/sweet lager with a nice dose of yeast at the tail end that doesn't hide anything but doesn't show any alcohol, astringency or pungency. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virignia on 06-January-2021 for US$3,99 sampled at my house here in Washington, just a few blocks away, on a warm day, 06-February-2021, just a month after purchase.

Ever so slightly hazy copper and bronze coloured body with a golden glow and a thinnish, pure white head that stars off at only a centimetre in height that fades quickly. Aroma of bright and super floral, tea-like notes with lavender, bergamot and jasmine with a good fresh-cut grass note along with a heavy dose of both yeast and wheat with some curacao and full orange sweet scents as well - very nice, but no real potatoes. Medium to perhaps even Full-bodied; Strong rich wheat and herbal notes with a lot of grassiness and some dry hay-like notes, but the tea and ultra floral notes are evident here with a good hit of both bergamot and lavender with some light sweetness, but a rich body that could show the potatoes and a good yeast bite. Aftertaste shows the rich yeast and pure orange flavour with some herbal and grassy elements that shows some dryness, but a good, crisp and robust profile that gives this a real saison-bite, but shows the sweetness and complexity at the end from the yeast and oranges/curacao. Overall, a very nice beer with some very light, but rich potato elements, but the winner here are the tea and grassy notes that show some dryness and complexity with yeast coming through as well. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 24-October-2020 for US$4,49 sampled at my house in Washington on 20-January-2021, Inauguration Day, when we welcomed Joe Biden as the 46th president here in town.
