VERY lemony, but not overly tart. Finish is slightly artificial tasting.

Can (1/12/22) pour from the brewery. It's an opaque dark yellow-light brown with no sparkle, 3-finger width off-white foamy head with excellent retention and light lacing. Aroma is strong pine, citrus and bread. Taste is strong citrus over resinous pine and sweet malts. Mouthfeel is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture, no sign of alcohol, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, DNEIPA more in look than aroma/flavor--more traditional IPA.

Can from tfontana, thanks for the trade. Hazy dark yellow with a decent sized frothy white head that persists. Peach and pineapple with bits of earth and faint bready malt. Light alcohol warming.

Draught at the brewery, 2/18/22. Clear, light, blonde-flax with a firm, small, white head. Pepper, earth, herb and white dough lead to fruity hops and more spicy hop notes, as malts turn lightly cookie-like. No alcohol or flaw. In the mouth there's light wax/mineral-like yeast character that gives way to seltzer-like notes before gaining some substance and cookie-like sweetness from the malt, while hops keep things spicy and herbal. Pretty clean overall, and the attenuation is high, which is the most important thing here, while there's still ample malt texture and good hop balance.

Draught at the brewery, 2/18/22. Lightly hazy, bright, canary yellow with some deeper brass tones and a small, somewhat dense, white head that shows low retention. Nose is vaguely fruity with tropical notes of pineapple, mango and papaya, though hardly explosively so, and there's some weird yeast character adding an almost cheesiness. A touch of alcohol on the finish, as well. In the mouth it's somewhat soft, though a bit too crackery, perhaps, without enough comforting malt. Well-attenuated, with tons of pineapple, kumquat and light papaya, as well as unripe mango. Pretty tame overall; neither as malty as I'd like, nor nearly as hoppy, despite the hop notes being generally enjoyable. Just kind of vague and there.

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5

Draught at the brewery, 2/18/22. Medium copper with some deeper hazelnut hues and an off-white/beige head atop that is small and shows moderate-to-low retention. Good clarity. Smells of brown sugar, honey, slightly spicy phenolic notes, minimal, lightly earthy hops and lingering caramel and brown bread. In the mouth it's soft, with an almost slippery/sugary texture, engaging carbonation and hints of hazelnut, molasses and moderate phenolics on the end. Malty and comforting, but still properly attenuated. Minimal hop character but not none. Some light bitterness helps with balance. Clean, or at least as clean as it should be. Quite on the money. They've nailed all the malt liquor checkboxes (maltiness, texture, spicy/phenolic/alcoholic finish, minimal hop character). I enjoyed it.

16 oz can in a trade with tfontana. Thanks Tom for grabbing this at the brewery. Date 01/12/22. Nice and fresh!! Aroma shows me mango, apricot, peach. Flavor shows that mango with the stone fruit. Alcohol is lightly notice but not a huge distraction to the flavor. Mild juice character. Pretty nice. Makes me want to visit the brewery.

Half pour on tap at the brewery. Appearance is opaque black with finger-width light brown foamy head, no sparkle, light viscosity with decent retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong, pleasant bourbon over milder roasted malt and chocolate. Taste is strong bourbon/whiskey dominant over roasted malt and chocolate. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, creamy texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, the bourbon/whiskey dominates the flavor too much. Would likely be better from a bottle that sits a bit.
