32oz crowler pours with a somewhat murky mahogany bronze colored body that supports a nice tan head of foam. The aroma offers up loads of dates, raisins and prunes and then moving toward a molasses covered oak and a faint hit of booze. The taste delivers smooth sweet fairly integrated dark fruity esters like dates and prunes. To midway it picks up malts, some reduced sugars and molasses leading to a modest booziness and spicy oak sensation. The modest oakiness does provide a pleasing balance to the sweetness and richness going on here. Tastes like it's about 9% ABV as the alcohol is pretty well hidden. I like it. I may need more.

On tap at Crooked Tooth, pours jet black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out lots of roasted malt, a touch of smoke, and an even smaller hint of cocoa. Flavour is robust, with lots of roasted malt, dry cocoa and light smoke from the palo santo. Just a hint of sweetness that balances well with the roasted malt. Bold and well-balanced. Very good.
