Tap at Den Tatoverede Enke - under the name of Pope’s Porter! A pitch black beer with a thick brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of chocolate and lesser notes of oranges - reminds me of desert chocolate. The flavor is sweet - very sweet for a Porter, with strong notes of chocolate and oranges, as well as lighter notes of coffee and ground cocoa beans, both of which gives it a bit of bitterness in the end, but I miss some roasted malt. A good beer - but I known, that Närke can do so much better.

Bottle, 6.3%. Salami-like smoke aroma, like good spegepølse. Quite dark brown colour, unstable head. The flavour is nicely smoky, quite like whisky. A little salty. Good mouthfeel and a very good smokiness. 8 4 8 4 18

EBF08. Very smoky aroma, salami and wood. VERY smoked flavour, like eating leftovers from last night’s bonfire. Quite nice. Clear amber colour. 7 3 7 3 17

Bottle. Very nice creamy vanilla aroma. Black colour, small head. The flavour is a lot like aroma, vanilla, wood, cream. Low carbonation and a soft, even silky mouthfeel. This was very nice. 10 5 9 5 19

2006 bottle, 10%. Vanilla aroma. Black colour. No head. The flavour is still creamy with some vanilla. Still mild carbonation, perhaps a little low, but nice enough. Has some alcohol bitterness. Roasted and nice. 9 5 8 5 19

(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 8 Dec) Pitch black colour with creamy, firm, pale brown head. Roasted, creamy, nose with black coffee, dark chocolate and hints of blueberries. Roasted taste with dark bitter chocolate, strong black coffee, blueberries and crowberries. Dry finish, loaded with citrussy hops. Oh dear! This is what a stout should be like. Or is it a porter? It’s dry as a stout but with the nice dark berry character of a porter. Well, who cares? Whatever it is, it’s brilliant.

Sampled with Omhper and Finn at Glenfiddich Warehouse, Stockholm. Dominated by oranges all over. Pale orange coloured body with a solid head and nice laceworks. Strong hoppy aroma. Taste of orange succulence and orange shells. Very rich in citrus flavour, but still easy to drink. Should be a perfect summer drink (30.11.2006).

Black color with impressive big creamy head. Very nice aroma, roasted malt, vanilla, hop, a bit cheesy. Smooth texture, well malty, some sweetness, very well mixed, with roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, yeast. The final is well balanced, with a mix of all.
