tap at the brewery - Smells of oak and to my surprise kind of tart, but it doesn’t taste tart. Whiskey dominates the sweet, malty flavor and there’s a hint of vanilla. It’s medium to full bodied and very good.

tap at the brewery - Pours light yellow with a small white head. It’s sweet, light, and refreshing. For quite awhile I don’t taste or smell lavender but as it warms it comes through first in the aroma and then a little bit in the taste. Decent brew.

22oz bomber, courtesy of gregwilsonstl, pours with a clear deep copper hued body that supports a light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up prunes and figs and cherry nuanced molasses. The taste delivers fairly smooth and sweet prunes, cherries, raisins and figs drenched in brown sugar and drizzled in molasses. It maintains smooth and sweet English barelywine notes right into the finish. Pretty nice.

22 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but was just released. Pours slightly hazy deep reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, nutmeg, vanilla, light cinnamon/clove, light chocolate/cocoa, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, spices, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, nutmeg, vanilla, light cinnamon/clove, light chocolate/cocoa, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spice bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, nutmeg, vanilla, light cinnamon/clove, light chocolate/cocoa, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, spices, and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice spiced brown ale style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, spices, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

22 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 5/13/2015. Pours lightly hazy bright golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, asparagus, cracker, bread, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with well balanced lemon/asparagus, pale malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of asparagus, lemon, pear, apple, cracker, bread, herbal, grass, slight smoke/char, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal hop and asparagus bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, asparagus, pear, apple, cracker, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of lemon/asparagus, pale malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth and slightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good fruited blonde ale style. All around good balance and robustness of lemon/asparagus, pale malt, fruity yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. The base blonde ale for this beer was spot on to style as well. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours black with a tan head. Cocoa roasty aroma with a slight bit of heat. Smoky pepper flavor, roasty coffee and cocoa. Well done here.

On tap at MBGSF 2015. Pours pale gold with a white head. Sulfurous grape aroma. Flavor is very nice white grape and, well, asparagus. Somehow it’s actually great! Definitely the biggest surprise of the day.
