Bottle in a cafe in Rome, 23/09/16. Hazed golden orange with a decent white head. Nose is orange zest, toasted malt, melon, grass, light sorachi trace. Taste comprises tangerine, light floral touch, toasted grains, hint of caramel, bread dough, orange pith. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close peppered with earthy hop bitterness and a scraping of Sorachi. Ok.

Draught Small yellowish head over fully hazy dark brown beer. Liquorice, sweet, caramel and even toffee. Sweet liquorice, but also fragrant herbs (basil?). Again caramel, if seriously dilated. Meidum bodied, slick, Aftertaste has a strange, rosemary-like flavour. No way bad, if just not what I think of as a Scotch ale.

Draught Huge cream head, dense, over jet-black beer. Roasted, if sweet nose. Vanilla, bit of sweat, liquorice. Roasted, light bitterish; both black and sweet chocolate. Again basil, somehow? Medium to well-bodied feel, slick. Good, if a tad light on the roasted side.

Draught Medium yellow head, dense, over ochre beer, lacey. Floral nose, other grains, fresh New World hops, lupulin. Flowery flavour as well, with grains, herbs and rosewater. Medium bodied, quite slick and low on carbonation. Not bad, if not really special.

Draft @ ML Fontainas, Italian Beer Wknd #5 avec l’équipe RB et Bru. Ambre voire acajou, col fin beige.
