Pint at the brewery - black pour with a frothy tan head - nose of sweet cream, vanilla, chocolate, plum - creamy texture, low carbonation - starts quite sweet, with milk chocolate, sweet cream - some prune and other fruits through the middle - the finish brings a dry roastiness and prickly acidity to cut the bitterness, along with a faint touch of smoke - maybe just a tad too sweet, but nice.

Pint at the brewery - hazy light orange - spicy nose of pepper, basil, citrus rind, grass - full body - medium sweet, clean malt base for the assertive bitterness to ride in on - as is typical for this brewery, the bitterness is strong, but never abrasive - hop flavors of pepper, herbs, grapefruit pith - dry finish allows the bitterness to linger, encouraging another sip - tasty.

Pint at the brewery - clear light copper - fairly hearty rye character in the nose and flavor - toasty, bitter, bready, and spicy - the Citra adds a tangy citrus quality that works well with the spiciness of the rye and the moderate bitterness counters the moderate to high sweetness - finishes with flavors of herbs and sourdough bread - nice.

Taster at the brewery - aroma is heavy on the barrel character and surprisingly more smoky than the base beer - some tannic character - flavor is moderate whiskey warmth, moderate oak, some tannic, almost tart qualities, dried cherries, mild smoke, vanilla - not an improvement over the original, but just as enjoyable in its own way.

Taster at the brewery - aroma of roasted nuts, vanilla, light cinnamon - flavor is surprisingly light and dry - coffee, hazelnut, mild but spicy cinnamon, tobacco, just a touch of cocoa - lightly spicy finish, with a touch of coconut - pretty nice.

Pint at the brewery - billed as an Australian pale ale - just a technically sound pale ale with a crisp, light, refreshing character - as usual, they’ve extracted a lot of character from the hops but not created something abrasive or overly bitter - a lot of melon, pineapple, grass, a hint of mint - refreshing and pleasurable to drink.

On tap @ Station 26 with jcnielsen. Clear, dark reddish orange appearance with a tan head. Rice noodles, caramel, toast, light spice, and toffee in the nose. Slight celery flavor. Caramel, bread, herbal hops, light spice. Fairly dry. I don’t particularly love the flavor.

On tap @ the brewery with Justin. Hazy, light yellow appearance with a white head. Some candy, lemon, light dankness in the nose. Moderate plus sweetness, moderate bitterness. More sweet than their other offerings. Somewhat herbal with banana and lemon. Fine but not as good as their hoppy offerings.

On tap @ Station 26 with jcnielsen. Slightly hazy, kind of light yellow appearance with a white head. Light tropical fruit, somewhat dank, light peppery aroma. The body is kind of hefty. Hint of butter in the background and a little too bitter but otherwise tasty. Dank. Finishes a little too bitter. Overall, pretty good despite the flavors.
