10 ounce at the brewery - hazy dark orange - sticky, thick lace - has a juicy and citric hop character that is much more like an IPA than a bdm - there is some rich underlying malt character, slight earthy/dustiness, finishing moderately fruity, but yes, much more like an IPA - not a bad beer, just not at all what I was expecting.

12 oz. can. Pours a clear, bronze color, with a big, bubbly, off-white head. The nose is butterscotch, pine, orange peel, and taffy. Sweet and syrupy, with a mild bitterness. Light to medium body, with a creamy, flat mouthfeel. Pretty nice, but the esters are a little strange.

750ml bottle - pours a fizzy clear purple - the port notes are most prominent in the nose (tannic, oaky, medium sweet), with touches of dark fruit, brown sugar, sherry, alcohol - lighter-bodied and drier than expected, with strong vinous character, oak, blackberry, cherry skins - finish is the only place you get noticeable peppery yeast, but it gets enveloped by the alcohol warmth to the point that they become hard to distinguish - there are enjoyable qualities to it, but the more I drink it, the more it sometimes starts to taste like watered-down red wine - I was hoping for better, but I'm not disliking it.

Sample at First Draft Taproom during the "CSA ALL DAY" event on 10/06/2017. Hazy golden color with a medium white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing. Aroma of citrus, herbal hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of grapefruit, resiny hops and bready malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hop aftertaste. Above average overall.
