75 cl Bottle at the beach. Near clear golden with lively carbonation. No head retention. Sweet fresh and old moldy apples. Icelandic moss, treebark, dry woody and nutty (almond) notes. Medium sweet, mild bitterness, soft tartness. Under medium body, soft carbonation. Fruity, dryish finish, refreshing.

0,5L Can at camping Kost-Ar-Moor, accompanying "Moules et Frîtes". Light golden with white head. Light sweet grain and light ground bitter, very watery and thin bodied. Some metallic notes. Tastes absolutely like nothing and is very watery. Great tablebeer! Average carbonation. Paid €0,50 for 0,5L at Carrefour. Cheapest lager in town. --- Beer merged from original tick of Koenigsbier / Kœnigsbier on 18 Dec 2017 at 12:19 - Score: 5. Original review text: 2.5

75 cl bottle @ hotel room. Aroma is musty with apple juice. Flavour has apple juice, apple peel, sugary tones and floury apples. Mild acidity. Not my thing.

Carrefour’s own table beer, from a 75 cl bottle. Very thick, stable, yellowish beige, bath foam-like but regularly shaped head, chestnut brown robe with burgundy hue, clear and translucent with fierce fizz rising up through the glass, sustaining the head. Aroma of caramel candy, Coca Cola, brown sugar, dried tea leaves, iron, aspartame, dried fruits, old cardboard. Straightforwardly sweet, very caramelly in an artificial, industrial kind of way, cola-like sugariness lingering but fortunately less cloying than actual cola and not really sticky, medium carbo, evidently thin and somewhat metallic, grainy middle still dominated by the sweet caramel and cola flavours, ascorbic sourish hint becoming more evident in the finish (making it even more cola-like), where hops are all but absent, making it end thin and watery. Very stereotypically sweet, one-dimensional, industrial table beer, somehow I liked this more than e.g. Piedboeuf Brune, but that is where it ends; serves its humble purpose I guess and I respect the specific functionality of an old school brown tafelbier, but clearly of lesser quality than e.g. Haacht’s own Maltosa / Very Diest, which I remember felt less industrial.
