Actually brewed in the Netherlands, by subsidiary of Bavaria. Question is if it is in Brabant, or in Utrecht De Meern, or by commision at Grolsch. Reduced to 4% ABV only.

500ml can from Carrefour Express in Brugge, Belgium. Pours a clear pale gold color with a white head and good retention. Decent lacing. Light bready malt aroma. The taste follows the nose: Light bready malt flavor throughout. Tastes more like a Helles than a blonde ale in my opinion. Smooth and clean. Medium-light body and medium-light carbonation. Not bitter. A nice light beer.

0,33 boks fra Carrefour Nerja, en ukomplisert kveldsreiting på balconasen: klar gylden med ok skum. Forsvinnende lite aroma, litt mer smak. Lys malt, papp og hint av citrus. Good grief.

Clear pale straw yellow beer, small creamy white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: bah, oxidized, cardboard, a hint of marijuana, grassy touch, cheesy, unpleasant. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: very watery, some grains, cardboard, oxidized, watery, bleh. Aftertaste: a little bitter, cardboard, meh.

Good, very light, pastel yellowish head over crystal clear golden beer. Rather demure aromatic nose, fine green leaves, sweet malt, corn and more than probably sugar syrup. All aroma's fleeting. Light bitterish fleeting (again) flavour, somewhat grassy over sweet pale malts, seriously thinned. Finish is dry, neutral to metallic. Light body, medium carbonation, watery MF. Sugar syrup (fact), high gravity brewing (more than probable), hopextract (fact), adjuncts (probable). Everything that could be wrong with a beer, infection excepted (then, what critter would want to...)

Blik op vakantie geprobeerd met LiekevdV en SandervdL. Het is een helder goudgeel bier met een volle witte schuimkraag. Het heeft een moutige wat zoete geur. De smaak is moutig en metaalachtig.

Standard pale lager made for supermarket chain Carrefour, cheaply sold in cans mentioning ‘premium quality beer’ – which I do not expect it to be. My sample mentions 4% ABV rather than the 4.2% given here, but I assume it is the same thing. Thick and mousy, snow white, frothy head on a crystal clear, deep ‘old gold’ coloured beer with lively sparkling, a shade darker than I usually expect from the style, certainly if it is a cheap supermarket brand. Aroma of damp kitchen towels, sweet raw barley but also – and much more – the water from a can of corn, wet white paper, leftover dough, cold polenta, glue, touch wet grass. Neutral onset with a sweetish, corn water-like main flavour, grainy, with minerality from the carbonation reminiscent of sparkling water and almost equally bland; a thin, slick, sweetish graininess with an aspect of damp cloth is basically all that happens after this, paired with a clear metallic effect, yet in the finish a faint, but fortunately somewhat lingering, basic grassy hop bitterishness does appear, making the whole thing a bit less dreary. In all, quite acceptable for a bland supermarket lager and in that sense good value for your money I guess, if you insist on indulging in this kind of “anti-craft” products. Serves its intended purpose, in any case, but point off for refusing to disclose where it is actually brewed (seems to be Carlsberg, apparently).
