Description
Having gone far from his island for his studies, Jonathan meets two friends in Montpellier: Joris and Thibaut with whom he becomes friends. One evening, in a beer bar, the click came: “What if we went to my place to make beer?” That’s good, the family garage is available! After a lot of work done by them, the first Dalons Beer was born, it is August 9, 2018. Perched on the heights of Saint-Denis, at the Colline des Camélias, the Dalons are working hard to make the first beer artisanal from the north of the island. Thibaut manages the brewing and technical side, Joris takes care of the marketing and Jonathan controls the financial aspect. The small family garage is starting to be too small, which is why the Dalons decide to move to a more suitable production space; It is February 2020.

Draft at the bar in Saint-Gilles. Hazy golden with a white head. Spices, yeast, fruits in the aroma. I went into this expecting a sour TBH but it’s pretty subdued.

From tap at the Saint-Gilles pub. It’s hazy golden and smaller like yeast, malt, light wort and fruity hops. Certainly not bad in this crazy hot weather but not up to the IPA.

Well it’s listed purely as IPA here at their Saint-Gilles bar, but it’s clearly a NEIPA as you can see. Smells like it too Tropical fruits, citrus, lychee, starfruit. Nice. Happy hour price of a pint for the price of a half really seals the deal.

Tried at their bar in Saint-Gilles. It’s not bad. It’s fundamentally what you would expect from a wit. It’s not a style I find particularly interesting but it does seem to fit sometimes on a hot day. I get why they sell these in Reunion!

Przede wszystkim przegazowane.

13/7/2024. Bottle courtesy of Boris, cheers! Pours dark mahogany brown with a small frothy beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, ash, caramel, coffee, dark fruit and nut. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Medium body, oily, average carbonation. Quite enjoyable.

330ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour with average, frothy, to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, dark beige to tan head. Roasty, chocolately, slightly spicy, dark malty and slightly resinous and minimally piney, hoppy aroma, notes of dark chocolate, a weak, spicy touch of coffee surrogate, fennel and celery, some resin, a touch of olibanum, very weak, fruity overtones with a touch of plum. Taste is roasty, slightly spicy and chocolately, dark malty, mildly bitter, resinous and slightly grassy hoppy, notes of dark chocolate, a spicy touch of coffee surrogate, celery, fennel, a touch of olibanum as well, weak, fruity hints of plum. Slightly oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally greasy palate, medium to fine, soft carbonation. Not overly complex on the malty side, interesting fresh, resinous flavours, relatively drinkable - pretty decent.
